I know I've asked about this before, but MNOWAX's sig prompted me to ask again.
Any way to implement a "don't dosplay sigs" mod?

To be honest, I rarely use post hover to see what the content of the post is. I use it to see if the post is a new post, or one I've already read. I don't always go back and read every post in the thread, but I always read new posts when I'm here... expcet in VG, VSP, and MG.
jeepity jeep, you got it man. I'm also going to see if I can't see what's lagging the GL I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the server on which it's hosted. |

I meant to do that. It's not hard. See if you can get the data w/o needing another db hit.

Well, yah, I've noticed the lack of post hover on the main forum page now and then, because it used to be in place on the old boards. But it doesn't really 'bug' me.
You know, there was no post hover at all way back in the early days, and it didn't bother me, because I knew the threads were usually worth reading anyway. The preview option, when it was added to the GL, was like adding sugar sprinkles to an already delicious cake.
So knock yerself out, Hy. If you can get the post hover back on the main forum page, that'll be great!
But don't put yourself through more effort than is necessary. Even without all the sprinkles, it's still pretty good cake. |

You mean this thread? The one in that one forum where people just play Mafia all the time and no person visits unless they're in a Mafia game or something? You're lucky I knew where that thread was, because I sure don't play Mafia. |

Hi Sam. I'm lucky enough for the moment to be able to (amongst other things) get a little bit more involved with the GL. Thanks for asking.
By the way, i was just curious, it was not a demanding request. |

Dorothy does not work.
Presumably because of the brackets, since Dorothy does create a link (albeit a false one).
Fortunately using %28 and %29 as replacements (i.e. Dorothy) is a workaround, but it's still a bug in URL parsing for links. |

| I think it's implied that people know English and would make the leap from "there exists a special option for partial matches" to "if I don't use it, I won't get partial matches". |

Ah, i see... Thanks for the tip. So does this mean i can now post a "small request" for the text on the search page to be slightly changed, such that the last statement ("Use * as a wildcard for partial matches") become "Use * as a wildcard for partial matches, since the search will otherwise only find whole words"? |

You need to do "Chess*". Otherwise it only matches whole words (after ignoring ^, apparently, I didn't know that ). |

The Search function has a glitch. Not that i was expecting it to be flawless...
When i search the VG forum for "Chess4", i get four results (two signups and two games, one of either of those actually being called "Chess^4". I think it's very nice to have the caret ignored. ). BUT when i search for "Chess", i get 45 hits, and none of those is the 5641 thread ("Chess4 - The Game [DETH WINS!!!!!!]"). Any idea why? |

Thanks. Done some thinking, and i think i found a way to link "through" it to some other sites that might host pics for me (at some time in the future)...
Consequently, i freed up some room and managed to upload. |

| It's been doing that off and on for months, if not almost a year. I think it's related to the actual space allocated on the server instead of the hypothetical space available on your account. |

| No, space is not the issue. I use only 5.26 MB, so i still have 4.73 MB available... The idea is that for some strange reason the connection between my 'puter and the glpics server is consistently cut in the middle of that upload. (And before you ask, I don't use a firewall...) |

Annoyingly, GLPics refuses to upload a file for me. It stops either immediately (producing the 0.00 file i mentioned above), or after 32.0 KB. I've just given up on "trying again", and would like to know how (if) i can FTP into my account...
What i cannot understand is what's wrong. I have uploaded larger files (700 - 800 KB), and anyway, the first time i tried this particular file it got to 152 / 234 KB. What can i do in this situation?!? |

Tinsy little tiny bug: last post hover shows the full URL of images in the post. And also replaces invisible text with "invisible", which kind of gives it away...
GLPics issue: i've been having this previously, but it went away without me doing anything. When i try to upload files to my GLPics account, the file shows up, only it is "0.00 B" in size. |

Good idea. Done. I think... I'll have to test it when I post this. |
Voting on a poll leads to a page which has only the link to hurry to the thread, and doesn't include the go to forum link (i guess i could call this my pet FR ).
Also, i'd like to ask again for (quote)"alt text things be added for the new-posts/no-new-posts light bulb and folder images, so one can see what's new with images turned off"(/quote). They currently both start with "N". |
