The puzzle states that the oasis is infinite. It never runs out. You can go forever until you die.

If the desert were more than 100 miles radius, you could travel infinitely until the oasis gave out. Or if we want to be a stickler, then you could travel an infinite amount of distance period, since you would guarantee yourself exit from the desert.
