Any mod or admin can update the thread. Are we really that hard to contact?
sorry Hy for letting you get blamed.
(and I am fellow who has been doing the birthday hats. After DP's was a hit I have been trying to customize them more.) |

Well, if anyone wants to take up the responsibility of maintaining the thread, just let me know--or start a thread in VSN.
Hell, I'll do it. I've been slacking on my duties as a mod as of late anyway. |

Well, thanks Hy, though I think it might have been better if you'd waited till September to make the change.
And my point still stands in regards to the difficulty of making additions/corrections to a stickied thread that was posted by someone who isn't a regular visitor anymore. You might at the very least add a disclaimer at the start of the OP, so people know that if they want their birthday added they'll need to contact a moderator/administrator. |

Oh lord almighty...where do I start here?
In the first place, let me just say that I'm tremendously honored and humbled that anyone should have gone through the effort of setting things up beforehand, in anticipation of my birthday. Many thanks, whoever you are!
In the second place, I'm highly amused at how much chaos has resulted from that well-meant effort. Most people here seem to think I chose my GL name solely in honor of good ol' Wile E., and I'm fine with people thinking that, even if it's not entirely correct. In fact, I'm paying homage more to this character. I think the mayhem resulting from the well-meant intentions mentioned in this thread would meet with approval from the Coyote in that link, and so I approve of it too.
In the third place, and I say this only because I don't think many people bother reading this particular forum--my birthday isn't August 12, it's August 21. I tried hinting at this last year and was met with nothing better than threats to move my birthday to February 30.
Heh. That was a good joke, actually--but it didn't really change things in the long run. My birthday is still listed as Aug. 12 in Merc's thread, it's a stickied thread, and Merc doesn't show up often enough for me to ask her to change the date. I won't bother correcting anyone this year in light of my futile efforts last year, but this is still something a bit annoying to me. Why does that thread remain stickied when there's so little chance of corrections or additions being made? Wouldn't it be better to just let it slowly drift down to page two like any other thread that's gone past its timely relevance? Not to be bitter about it, but that was the fate granted to my own birthday thread, despite the fact I was always around, willing to either update it or watch it slip back to page two and beyond, whichever of those paths was given to it. |

Is it not his birthday? It should be coming soon. MattV doesn't start threads set up birthday avatars until it gets close. |

Arrr... my fault. I forget to click the "set as a special rank"
I've done it many times before...but caught myself after seeing a normally Icarian post. |

The thread in question seems to agree with my fix...
Do you have evidence to the contrary?
It was basically assigning the "Happy Birthday Coyote" avatar to all icarian members. (Which explains how spam girl stole that avatar.) |

My suspicions were confirmed. I had nothing to do with it.
Someone set up a happy birthday avatar for Coyote, and set the minimum number of posts to zero. That took preference over "Icarian Member." I've fixed it now; don't ever question my mad admin skills again. |

I don't think I did anything. Surely nothing that would cause that behaivor...
Do we have a crazy admin moving stuff around? I can undo my changes in a matter of seconds, but, honestly, I don't think it was doing that did that. |
