I support free apps, even when the cost apps are the same price. |

Go SMS rocks my socks. =) Currently running the iPhone theme...it IS pretty, even though I die a little inside every time I look at it.
Launcher-wise, I like ADW Launcher EX. The Go one looks pretty sweet, but I just got settled into ADW and I'm not quite ready to change over yet. |

Huh. I thought I remembered seeing you post something from an iPhone on Facebook. Must have been another hot chica.
So.
If you haven't already, get Go SMS. It's better than whatever messaging app you're using. (by a lot.)
I'd suggest the "Simple Blue" theme, but any of the Simple themes are pretty great. The iPhone is also sleek looking.
Go also has a launcher that's pretty sweet, but it seemed to do a lot better on my Evo 4G, then it did on my mother's Samsung Epic FWIW. |

Free Games:
Bubble Buster: great difficulty curve and tons of fun.
Coloroid: Early stages can be tougher than later stages, but it's a great conceptual game.
Untangle Me: you may have seen this before. some of the puzzles are maddeningly difficult.
The very first game in the "Waste of Time" thread is also an android app: SF Cave
Rocket Bunnies is pretty good as a game concept.
Glow Puzzle is fairly amusing for a while.
Has no one mentioned Slice-it?
Dropwords is like bookworm
Wordfeud is a Scrabble knockoff, but it's free. If you're up for a game I'm wordcross@gmail
Other free apps I use:
Opera Mini/Opera Mobile. Great alternative to the built-in browser.
Winamp for music. The built-in music player is decent, but I like how Winamp displays things better. |

Coin Flip in Magic TG Tracker is is in the menu, while in the life counter (during a game). Press the menu button, and coin flip is there. (I also recommend setting it to dark theme, and turning off rotation, but that's just me.)
And yea, I've used Bubble as well. Good app. |

I recently got the Droid X and it's my first "big boy" phone!
Chaz - yea the goggles is pretty cool. It recognizes brand symbols pretty well.
Death Mage - wow, the MTG app is pretty cool. not quite sure how to get to the dice roll / coin flip though.
other kinda neat apps I like: (all free)
bubble - quite literally turns your phone into a bubble level. (you just have to be careful with the lay flat level because of the bump out on the back of the Droid X)
gStrings free - a pretty nice instrument tuner that displays approximate frequencies in Hertz
Barcode Scanner - similar to goggles, a red line appears and you center it on a barcode and it auto focuses, scans it and lets you search for information on that barcode. At the very least it gives you the numerical value for the barcode for later research.
and for a quick Physics reference there are two nice ones:
BS_Physics_Beta - just the equations
Physics Cheater - includes the equations and short definitions |

| Originally (and if you downloaded it before the change), it was unlimited for all. Then they limited it to five a month and a charge version for more. |

| The difference in versions is how much you can use it in a month. The free version gives you 5 song matches a month or something like that. The paid version is unlimited. There might also be ads, I'm not sure. |

Or heated seats. How did I drive in the winter in my old car?
I just recently broke down and got an Android phone, so I'll be taking from this thread more than giving. I do fully endorse the Magic TG Tracker.
Somebody at work was showing off Shazam; it can listen to and identify music. He claims he's never found a song it couldn't identify. There's a free and a pay version, but I don't know the difference. |

Mine is pretty much just a phone, but I do use the alarm feature occasionally.
Also, I have an iPad that gets a lot of use, but I do not have the cellular link, just free wireless at home. My favorite app is the Audubon Field Guide to Birds for iPad ($20). A also have a free sudoku game, and Hungry Shark (free).
Oh, and my car does not have power door locks. |

I usually use the Weather Bug map, but I saw that Go has a weather app.
The GO Launcher and GO SMS apps both have features that I only ever found in paid apps until these guys came along.
Also, I agree that the google stock apps (notably, maps/navigation, Voice, and gMail) are amazing.

All apps I use are free:
Useful info:
Wifi Analyzer
GPS Status
Games:
Unblock Free
Utilities:
Timers4Me
Antivirus AVG - Not that I've run into trouble, but just in case.
Also, if you play Magic:TG, there's a very good stat tracker for Android phones, simply called Magic TG Tracker. And, of course, there's the whole host of official Google apps that I love, like Navigator.
I've used other apps in the past, but at the moment that's about all I've left installed. Also, it's not a bad idea to look into custom firmware. On my Eris, I found a good 2.2 software that's extended my battery life considerably. (And there is no official 2.2 for Eris.)
[Edit] I stand corrected , I use Weatherbug Elite, a paid app. I use the radar map as my live background. |

Who has Android based devices?
I thought a thread for "Good Apps" was in order.
Two I just started using recently (and seem to like a lot.)- $Free - Go Launcher - Replacement Home Screen that's a lot better.
- $Free - Go SMS (I'd suggest the iPhone theme, or download the 2011 Night Theme)
Other apps that I've enjoyed in the past:- $Free - Angry Birds
- $Free - Alchemy (game... combine elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water to form... well... everything from "Mud" to "Twilight Series" to "Alcoholic."
- $Free - Astrid - Task Manager
- $Free - Secret Settings - If you like to tinker with hidden settings.
- $Free - Endomondo - Sports Tracker - www.endomondo.com by far the best sports tracker that I've tried (though I only use free stuff unless I absolutely have no other choice.
- $Free - Mort Player - Audio Book player that plays folders of mp3 files like it's a single book... great for Audible.com
- $Free - Pandora - Internet radio.
I think that's about it for the apps that are "must have."
If you haven't started using Swype yet (yes, or ShapeWriter or SlideIT) do so. These new Input Methods are the way of the future. I can barely use a regular keyboard anymore, and "tap" onscreen keyboards make me shudder.
Please share any other Gems you've found. Even the pay apps if you absolutely must. Me, personally, I believe OpenSource will set us free, but that is, admittedly, the Socialist Anarchistic in me talking. |
