OK so this is how I am setting it up. (My apologies to Lexprod for stealing his set-up but it worked so well last time.) There will be 4 divisions based on 4 disney mascots. (Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald) Each divison has 8 seeds based on Noms and then randomized to break the many ties for a total of 32 entrants. Every nominee with 2 votes was given an automatic in. The 30 remaining noms have been randomly placed in five 6-song runofss. The winner in each run off will be placed in the 5 remaining seeds in the main bracket. We will then go one-on-one single elimination style til we have a winner. I will be putting up the run-offs shortly and all polls will run at least one full week.
Tie Breaking Procedures:
1. Previous round(s) vote count
2. Number of Nominations
3. First vote posted in thread
4. If all else fails a coinflip: heads-high seed, tails-low seed
If a mod would sticky this thread for updates and questions I would appreciate it. |

OK. Here's my list, in approximate chronological order rather than anything else.
Whistle While You Work (Snow White)
Some Day My Prince Will Come (Snow White)
When You Wish Upon A Star (Pinocchio)
When I See An Elephant Fly (Dumbo)
The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book)
I Wanna Be Like You (The Jungle Book)
Zip-a-dee-do-dah (Song of the South)
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Mary Poppins)
Feed the Birds (Mary Poppins)
Let's Go Fly A Kite (Mary Poppins)
Under The Sea (The Little Mermaid)
Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast)
Beauty and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast)
Friend Like Me (Aladdin)
A Whole New World IAladdin)
Circle of Life (The Lion King)
Hakuna Matata (The Lion King)
Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (The Lion King)
I'll Make A Man Out of You (Mulan)
However, I'm not sure if these last two should count, because they are from Pixar movies, not "Disney" movies per se. I won't feel bad if they are disqualified, although I will also feel bad (if you see what I mean.) But here they are anyway:
You've got a Friend in Me (Toy Story)
When She Loved Me (Toy Story 2) |

Sorry, but that's a whole different definition of "old classic" that I can get my head around!
I mean I know you're a young 'un and all that, so I'll cut you some slack, but the Little Mermaid (generally considered to be the start of the Disney renaissance) only came out in 1989. As opposed to, say, Pinocchio, which came out in 1940. Now that's an "old classic"
Fine idea for a poll though - although it's hard for me to separate those I love as "songs" from those I love as "parts of a movie". (For instance, shorn of context,I'll make a Man from Mulan doesn't really work as a song. But in the film it's perhaps the stand-out sequence.) |

Has someone said "When I See an Elephant Fly" yet?
Oh... Lex did. I second that. One of the best songs Disney ever did. |

Thank you for reminding me of The Three Caballeros! It's a masterpiece. Sort of, anyway.
Adding these two:
The Three Caballeros
Aracuan (that annoying-but-catchy birdy song) |

| Sorry, I'll make a man out of you from Mulan was what I meant. And yay, I'll put They Live In You in place of chitty chitty. I really thought they background chorus vocals was We Are Men. Whoops. Donny's best song though. |

Also:
The Three Caballeros
Lilongo (from three caballeros)
When I See an Elephant Fly
When you wish upon a star
Seriously, if you never got to see The Three Caballeros, it's like a huge love letter to classic animation and south america, and it's on google video I believe. Great music, tons of Donald, and no plot to speak of. |

For some reason I forgot that Mary Poppins was Disney. I guess because I associate Julie Andrews with Sound of Music, so I thought Poppins was also Rodgers and Hammerstein. Let me add
Feed the Birds
Chim Chim Cheree
I should have known it was Disney since we presented it (and I saw it) in Houston last year and I paid the royalty to Buena Vista (a part of Disney). |

I never liked "Can you feel the love tonight?". Don't know why, just not that interesting of a song.
Now, the Elton John version is pretty decent. [Yes I know he wrote it, I just like his rendition better] |

Being submitted to the horrifying experience of translated songs, I can't say many of these were particularly memorable.
Still, I will nominate two:
Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
Two Worlds |

As a child of the 90's my favorite movies growing up were the old classic disney musicals. (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, ect.) Anyway last summer I had some time to kill and decided to make a list of my favorite disney songs. I have recently compiled said list into my 100 favorites. While burning them to cd the other day I decided that it would make a decent poll tournament and since drink noms are dead I think now is a good enough time as any to try and get this off the ground.
Nominate up to 20 songs
(All songs must be original and featured in Movies produced by the Walt Disney Company). |
