When I was a teen I would hang out downtown and there was a sign in the alley way that said, “No loitering. Violators will be prostituted."
Someone used spell check rather than a proofread. I am a bad speller, but that was funny! |

I noticed on a wall in O'Hare airport tonight a large pic of a patient getting a CAT scan or maybe an MRI. It's an ad by Siemens. The humorous (for them) tag line was, Working to prevent tiny cells from becoming a big problem.
Wouldn't a condom be cheaper? |

I don't have a pic, but this was in one of those open spaces to let cars park. There was a traffic sign that read "Max height 1,90m" and indeed there was a bar placed at that height. 1,90 would be about 6' 3". But then it had a panel below that read "Except cars". Hmm, doesn't translate well. It's a word for "car" that excludes trucks, lorries, buses... just your plain old car.
Well, the message they convey is that if you had a "car" higher than 6' 3" you could pass, bar notwithstanding. And I suck at explaining this, hehe. |

Took a trip to North Platte, Nebraska this weekend. We ran into a Christian radio station named KJLT:
There was another sign out front. Clearly, the signmaker was poking fun with his clever microphone placement. (Note: If you don't immediately get it, stare at it some more.)

| That's kind of like wondering what goatse is about. The dude on your left shoulder keeps bugging you to find out. Meanwhile the one on the right is doing the bugged eyed 'no no no no don't do it!' double handed wave off. |

It's one of those things where they don't like you stealing their pictures, so an alternate image shows up, yadda yadda. |

I've posted this before somewhere on here many moons ago, but it fits in here too.
There is a pub along the quayside in Gravesend called "The Canal Tavern". It's not known by this name, and hasn't been for many years. This is because folk keep taking the "C" away from the sign on the wall of the pub.

I bet they're not 5K an hour.
In SD, years ago, there was a yellow cautionary sign alongside a road near a hill. Somewhere I have pictures of it. It said in big, black letters:
"HILL
BLOCKS
VIEW" |

A couple off the top of my head:
Central New York: Catskill Animal Hospital
In Poughkeepsie, NY, there was a store called Big Lots. The "L" was burnt out for over two years when I lived there, which I'm sure made for some interesting customers.
On vacation at Virginia Beach, our tour bus passed a seafood restaurant that had apparently run out of "C"s as their sign said "Daily Special! Grab legs - $15" |

What I find so unusual, is that some enterprising young vandal hasn't modified the "3" on one of the signs create an image more fitting to the town's name.

Actually, I don't know how it works in America, but in Europe a red triangle is a warning to cars to watch out for road hazards. The location of the sign is still pretty funny though. |

Ira Road in Bath Township*, Ohio has a sign that's not funny, but interesting. Eventually you come to an intersection where, if heading north, your options are to go north or turn left to go west. If you go west, you're on Ira road, so the intersection's street signs read Ira and Ira.
*As a side note, I just found out Jeffrey Dahmer used to live there. |

In Lewiston, ME there's a street sign for Prospect Ave. It's a dead end.
When they were re-numbering the highway exits (still in Maine), there was a sign that said "Exit 10 (Formerly Exit 10)" |

| I passed a sign on the Ohio toll road that the was installed upside down. Most travelers would have ingored it, but I'm the type of guy who's quick to snicker at other people's mistakes. Instead of showing "6.9" it showed "6'9" (miles from the Indiana border) |

Only one I could think of that I've seen firsthand: there's an intersection of Church St. and State St. in Redlands, CA. It's a bit amusing to look at the street signs at that intersection.
In case you're wondering, yes, there are plenty of churches in that city. Guess they don't mind mixing church and state. |

I'm not sure if this counts, since it was intentional, but I still like it. There's a restaurant near my school that has a little two-line billboard where they usually put up funny comments. I thought this one from a couple of weeks ago was pretty good:
4 hot bartenders and 1 ugly one
Don't come in on Thursday |

it is a general warning sign. Usually there is another sign with words under it, which explains what the warning is about (e.g. farmer's cars on the road). |

Many years ago I encountered a sign that consisted of an exclamation mark inside a red triangle. It may have a universal European meaning, but at the time I was stumped. It was along a rural mountain road outside Vaduz.
I posted this elsewhere, but on the door of a local liquor store is a sign stating that "shirt and shoes must be worn to enter store." I always look down to see how worn mine are as I enter. |
