Not brilliantly for me. I have some puzzles done but although they fit together, they certainly don't fit either of the specified themes. So I am not entirely sure where to take them. |

Okay, I have made my decision.
Since My input really was the only one here. I feel it is kind of biased, but I don't really have any other choice. This game has gone on long enough.
As much as I wanted to put you through, I needed two people. This was a very close race, but i think the two powerhouses of this competition just simply were just a little better.
Esme, Please Pack your protractor and Go Home.
The Finals will be against Scurra and Groza, a rematch of the very first Top GL'er! How fitting the last one would have the same finalists as the first.
For trying to get this damn thing over with already, The meta only HAS to be 5 puzzles (4 +1 Meta) long. you may do more if it strikes your fancy, but in the mood I am in in regards to this competition, I wouldn't recommend it.
Lastly, you will be given a slight bonus if you can work in a theme of emotion into your puzzles. If you both do it, the bonus will be negated, if only one of you do it you will get a +2 on Theme points.
Time limit: whenever you guys get around to it. No limit on this puzzle if you actually have gotten this far.
Think of Gene Rayburn just slumped over the podium just not giving a crap, halfheartedly saying the clues. "yeah yeah, so her mouth was so big she could fit a blank in it. go and make your jokes." |

Thanks to the judges and organizers for your time. Some very nice puzzles created so far.
I suggest writing up (now, or when it's all done) an overview with all the rounds and links to the puzzles and solutions. That would be very nice. It's kind of spread out all over the place, currently. |

damn. After all that has happened with this game this year, I will be happy to see it end honestly. A Judge having to leave, and each challenge we have had to eliminate one non submitter, and once again this contest has taken 2 months too long.
Elethomiel, Please pack your protractor and go home.
We WILL be eliminating someone, and the final two will be going head to head in the finals.
Additionally there will be a poll for the GL to vote on the two puzzles, and that will count as one vote, along with each of DF and my vote.
Winner will be declared in six weeks guaranteed! If you desire to work on your puzzle, the theme is an easy one. Make a ten puzzle meta based upon the GL forum. You can pick a single thread, a single forum, or multiple forums.
I am also retiring this format of Top GL'er. If it comes back, it will be unrecognizable from this current format, and may not even come back under my name at all. |

| Thanks, much appreciated. About the puzzle, the task is to create a regular puzzle that somehow incorporates our earlier answers? Would something like a crossword where e.g. one clue is "Music puzzle answer." qualify? Or am I missing the mark? |

This will be the last puzzle before the finale. We may cut one or two people this round. |

Well finally, here are the results of last round, and difficult it has been to get them! Much deliberating, cogitating and digesting has been done. Here are some of the things that were mentioned while that was going on:
| Quote: |
| Puzzle was intuitive but complex, and rare for the puzzles of this competition up to this point, a joy to solve. |
| Quote: |
| Half jokingly, the only flaw I can find with this puzzle is that the "watermark" letters are a bit too "washed out" - which is good in that it diverts attention away from any text whatsoever, but actually hard to see in the end. |
| Quote: |
| I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the product placements in the scenes. It reminded me of the old thread Guess the movie ( which I think I'll have to go and revive...) I don't think I laughed harder at a puzzle when figuring out Fridge over the river Kwai. |
| Quote: |
| A good technique, my sort of puzzle on the whole. I didn't feel it was particularly original, but it was solvable in a nice way, although the pictures clearly spelt words, even the letter spaces were given beneath the images. |
| Quote: |
| Far too much work to cut out the jigsaw items. It made it a chore I begrudged [...] I just ended up resenting the requirement to waste an unhappy afternoon cutting up pieces making my hand ache. |
| Quote: |
| For everything Scurra's was, this was not. It was cumbersome, and I just didn't like it. |
Scurra, please come to the table...
You walk through to the next round clearly victorious here. This is the exact type of thought I was looking for with this challenge, engaging and stimulating. I wasted a happy afternoon playing with this puzzle but in the end I had to smile at the apparently convoluted but elegant construction. As my esteemed colleague said:
| Quote: |
| This was a joy to solve and a great example of why we are running Top GL'er. |
Groza, please step up...
Despite a great showing in many stages up to this round, this time you tripped up. A single faltering step has knocked out many potential champions in every field, it could so easily have been an stumble beyond redemption for you. Fortunately for you, we already have lost a contestant this round, and because of the nature of the competition's final stages, you will not be eliminated. That doesn't mean that more than one contestant may not be eliminated in future rounds!
All contestants this round will go through to the next stage, please produce your offering for the puzzle involving your answers from the three previous rounds as soon as you are able. MNOWAX will set the deadline soon. |

edit upon reflection: a 10 puzzle meta?! When the contest so far has only had four rounds (including this one)? That seems a bit excessive, doesn't it? |

The 10 puzzle meta is after this round, you'll still get a month for that. this round you are making one puzzle with the last three answers to the last three puzzles are used to as corner blocks for this one. |
