| Thanks. I can now get at the original file with scoring details. I started well but my last 6 answers were mostly shockingly bad. |

You know we were all thinking the same thing...
Also, on the topic of game shows, somebody should set up a GL Jeopardy tournament. Not exactly sure how it would work, but it could start simply with 9 contestants playing 3 at a time (on the same set of questions, even), winners advancing to the final.
Not sure how the logistics of ringing in / answering / timing would work, but surely more experienced VSPers will have ideas.
I know the winner would be a foregone conclusion, but it sounds fun. I'm sure many of us always wanted to be on Jeopar |

I have actually been on one proper tv quiz show in the UK (15-to-1) in which I sailed through the opening elimination round, but then completely screwed up the final show-down. Hey ho. (It's a good job there was no prize money on the line...) |

in the board game you don't know jack, Scurra WAS jack.
The panel of judges on Jeopardy isn't anyone but Scurra and a bowl of potato chips.
Scurra can win the $100,000 Pyramid. Without a partner.
Scurra won hollywood squares by answering all the questions himself, and preparing a joke answer as well, rather than letting the celebrity talk. |

Crap! I knew that 1980 was the exact year the World Health Organization declared smallpox eradicated. What I didn't know was this:
The global eradication of smallpox was certified, based on intense verification activities in countries, by a commission of eminent scientists on 9 December 1979 and subsequently endorsed by the World Health Assembly on 8 May 1980. |
Yeah I felt awkward about that question, but I reasoned that the "eradication" occurred in 1979, and 1980 was just the official stamp, so 1979 felt more fair. Also I didn't think anyone would know the exact year enough to nail it with one year. So yeah, apologies for that question being pretty Trebekian. |

You can see the whole score breakdown of each question on a Google Spreadsheet here.
So congratulations to all! Thanks for participating everyone for playing. Not surprisingly the ranking sorted players by how many questions they got correct as well. Fun to note that almost all 5-year "shots in the dark" missed. And that the two best scorers did not bother to use all 30 years allotted.
I'm quite happy to stop hosting this format now, I hope you all have enjoyed playing it ^_^ My next format is gonna be half tens10n half survivor, probably start it up next week :3 |

The Game:
Once TtR 2 is over, I will gather a set of 10 events that occurred at any point between and including the years 1960 and 2010.

Just a reminder, more than once now people have used brackets that take place outside this range. They've of course been notified to correct them, but reposting this rule to prevent future confusion. |

I'm totally horrible at this and expect to fail miserably. I only sent in because I'm relatively sure I know the exact year of one of the tougher ones. |

Remember, your brackets have to sum less than 30 total years

So if the question was "Amb was born this year"
and I submitted 1970.
This adds to more than 30 years on its own, even if I shorten it to 2 digits? So I have no clue how to add my brackets together? |
Pretty sure this is just you being "Ambish"....
but for clarity: the sum of years refers to the duration of the bracket, thus 1970 "spans" one year. 1970-1974 spans 5 years. etc. |

Yikes! There are a couple in this game for which I have absolutely no clue, and a 10-year bracket is still pretty unlikely to be right.
Anyway, my submission will be sent in a few. |

I would submiss...
I guess it's submit?
Why is it not formed into the work submition then?
Wait..
commit -> commission
emit -> emission
transmit -> transmission
What is going on here... why has the t made a complete s of itself?
I will play your single submition game. |
