referee talked to me about this game in chat the other day, and I've agreed to try to moderate the thing if we have enough interest. Post in the thread if you want to try it (I'm not sure how long it will take, but please only sign up if you will be on regularly).

I think i'm interested, but after i manage to make the rules into a nice HTML file. (could be a while though)
I'm just curious to know one thing: who wrote those rules for you?
Clarifications request: What does AST mean? And what is the max number of players? 9? |

I was going to do that myself, actually, I was just waiting to see if there was actually enough interest. ref wrote the rules, you'll have to ask him any questions. |

I wrote the rules. I know I don't have the better writing style...
AST stands for Archeological Succession Table. That's where you track your civilization's progress.
Maximum number of players is 8. Ideal IMHO is 7.
Also note that those rules doesn't include the Western Map Expansion. That would have to be left out from the map.
For any other questions, I'm here to help. |

here's a preliminary (intermediary) version of what i am making. I have selected here all the questions in there (the underlined words are usually acronyms to make finding the questions easy):
(How to set the trade stacks)
Shuffle the cards with the same value together
That means i get 9 stacks, right?
open sea areas
What are those? Water spaces that do not directly border land spaces?
A ship may take part in any number of embarkations and debarkations of tokens during the same movement phase, and may retrace all or part of its route subject only to the limitation on the number of areas entered.
What if i enter the same area twice? Doesn't this count as 3, even if the number of areas entered is 2?
A player with six or more tokens in any area containing a city site may build a city in that area by replacing the tokens with a city.
How many of them? (i mean if i have 10, do i need to flush them all out?
Players who must reduce unsuported cities may select which cities are to be reduced first, subject only to the requirement that newly constructed cities must be reduced first.
so there's a Moment of Settlement for each city? Kept in the Archive of all Events or something like that?
Buying Gold, Ivory or Piracy: A player, regardless of the number of cities he has on the board, may buy one or more trade cards from the ninth stack (Gold/Ivory) at a cost of eighteen tokens from treasury per card. The spent tokens are ***returned immediately*** after the purchasing player collects his trade cards, before any other players collect their trade cards.
Returned where? (and btw i think it might be made a little clearer what's the purpose of the stock and the treasury... Any other piles one might want to know about?)
Trade is open to all players. Offers may be suspended, altered or withdrawn in **open negotiation** between players...
What does this 'open' mean? Here's what i mean:
A player **may NOT show his trade cards to another player during negotiations**, nor may a player inform other players of the details of a trade after it is completed.
Not even the two cards i am offering? I know there's no need to, but... i might want to show off or something.
which are the volcanos? The little black triangle marks like Etna and Vesuvius?
(civil war)
If the primary victim holds Philosophy, the first faction is automatically comprised of fifteen units chosen by the beneficiary, regardless of any other civilization cards held by the primary victim.
So in this case all the chatter about the complex selection of unit points is useless, right?
If the primary victim holds Military, five unit points are removed from each faction to reflect the increased destructiveness of the Civil War. The required units are removed after factions are selected. Each player must, if possible, remove the required units from areas adjacent to the other faction.
Who decides which units get removed?
The primary victim then decides whether he will continue to play the units of the first or second faction. The primary victim retains his stock, ships, treasury, civilization cards and AST position. The beneficiary annexes the other faction by replacing the units involved with his own. If he runs out of units , the remainder are taken over by the next player with the most units in stock, and so on.
Where do the replaced units go? (this is another example of why i think the stock and treasury would have deserved a bit of elaboration)
Each player has the option of **acquiring** one or more civilization cards[...]
This goes on publicly, right? I get to know who knows what at any time, don't i?
A credit from a civilization card which is already owned by a player may be applied towards the purchase of more than one civilization card, ***but the credit may only be applied once to each new card***.
Huh? How could i apply it twice? |
