Finally, I'm going to get a right answer! I'm 100% sure of the decathlon events (too bad I can only say one right now...)

Yes, yes, but how far do they swim and run?
It's not a 5km run by the way. |

So what's that distance. IIRC, in high school, the x-coutry team ran 2 1/2 miles. I used to encounter US Modern Pentathletes at fencing tournaments. I know they fenced 1-touch epee, and were in damned good condition.
[edit] I didn't see your post, HP. I had the last guess, so this obviously isn't one.[/e]

| I'll venture a guess on the swimming. The fencing was one-touch; I somehow don't think the running involves a sprint, but more distance. The swimming probably isn't the longest event that a pure swimmer would go. Down and back is 100M, but I'll go longer at 200 meter freestyle. The Freestyle part has got to be correct. If 10K wasn't right on the running, and I know 5K wasn't, I won't have a guess on it. |

I'm back. Again.
Quailman was correct on the swim; it is a 200m freestyle. The last event, oddly enough, is a 3km run, with a staggered start to ensure that the first contestant across the line is the winner. No bonus on this question, but Quail's strong showing in Round 6 has pulled him to within 2 points of mith.
Scores after Round 6:
mith 32
Quailman 30
Agamemnon 9
Duphrates 9
Qaqaq 5
dethwing 2
Sparhawk 2
kevinatilusa 2
Elayne 2
mikegoo -1
cuban smoker -1
Trojan Horse -1
casinopete -4
One Skunk Todd -5
Question 7 to follow thusly. |

(7) A total of 11 players have appeared in (not just been voted into) the NBA All-Star Game 12 or more times, according to the NBA's official web site. Name them.

I think that Karl Malone was voted into several all-star games that he boycotted, so he might not make it.
I will guess Bill Russell, sticking with the old legends.

I should mention at this point that I'm forced to go with the official list here, so any errors of omission are the responsibility of the NBA and not me.
For instance, Larry Bird was selected to 12 All-Star Games, but does not appear on the list - so I can only assume that he did not play in one or more of them.
The other responses so far are correct:
Sparhawk +4 for Chamberlain (13), Russell (12)
Qaqaq +2 for Abdul-Jabbar (18)
Quailman +2 for Michael Jordan (12)
Trojan Horse +2 for Karl Malone (12)
Five down, 6 remaining. |

jesternl, you're only allowed one guess at a time. Someone else has to guess before you make another guess. So, technically, Charles Barkley wouldn't count.
I'll save you 2 points, though, and let you know that neither of those answers are correct.
Hint: Of the 6 remaining players, one has taken the court within the last 5 years. Each of the others retired in the '80s or before.
