You know, I'm going to be disappearing for two weeks beginning May 13. I'd like to get this done before then. Who are we waiting for?

Seeing as how Dethy seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth--or at least off of the internet--I propose that JDTAY be contacted and asked to step into his original role for the few remaining turns until we catch the last mafia (GF?).

I've been really lethargic...I have all of the choices in, but i havent gone through them and recorded them.
In the meantime, I really regret extending this game after the townfolk practically had the game. If no one objects......I'd like to declare this game over with the townfolk as the winners.

Yes, I'm really curious what was going on after the original mafia was wiped out.

Ok since no one objects here's what happened:
When I got control, the mafia were dieing fast, and the town seemed to be in clean up mode. With the reporter-bodyguard-television combination, the mafia was fighting a losing battle.......so, in my infinite wisdom, i decided to create a new mafia clan....( there was never a god father, in either of them. )...it was made up of the remaining democrats and rebulicans. At that point there was 3 in both clans, so i hoped to thin the ranks of the town quickly. Unfortently, in the next few nights, there continued to be only one death due to some unlucky picks by the new clan, so their first kill came AFTER the old clan was gone.
Too bad it didn't work out.
Too bad I'm so lazy.
Sorry Jd. Sorry Everyone.

All right, now that Zephyr and I have been found out as late game mafiosos, I might as well point out that we had a pretty darn good chance of winning. Tonight, Tyenar (sorry buddy) was up for a blind date with a bullet. That would have left seven voting districts left. If we could have gotten one of the single-player districts lynched, that would have left six...then the next morning, five. Zepher's absentee ballot would have given him control of his district, my "reinterpretation" would have given me control of the next lynching victim's, and with AnnoyingPest inactive that would have given us two and a half districts, with only two capable to oppose us. Easy lynch, and after that we would have had control of the vote each turn.

Of course, TCM, I could still kill
Yes, I started out as a Serial Killer (Ninja, as I said). I could ninja-fight with someone at night, with a 25-22 advantage at the start (giving me an 80% chance of winning). Unfortunately, I drew with OG, and figured I should come out as an innocent. When the Mafia started dying out so fast, I argued to dethy that it would be suicide for me to ever kill again, so he agreed that if the Town won, I would too.
I was still hoping for a Mafia-Townie-Ninja endgame though. |

For those of you who are wondering why I suggested Taflinel was the bodyguard, even though he'd claimed to be an independent, the answer is ... I really thought he was the bodyguard, and hadn't noticed or didn't remember his claim.
In going over that game, I keep thinking of a quote from (I think) Richard Ewell about Gettysburg. "It took a great many mistakes to lose that battle, and most of them were mine." Well, looking back on it, I think that we probably were at a disadvantage normally, but I really blew it with some bad guesses and decisions. (I was, as I said, the de facto godfather. I was sending in all the orders, and I picked all the targets except jesternl and the failed attack on mith. Offing Raist was especially stupid, but at the time I really thought that the vote-changers would be the biggest challenge.)
The opening of the game made a comment that each of the nine states had one senator and one representative. I mistakenly took that to mean each _voting group_ had one representative, one senator, and one "other" (bodyguard, reporter, IO, whatever). When the mod stopped giving roles, I changed that to two politicians and an "other". As a result, when I was hunting for the bodyguard, I stuck to attacking those people who didn't have an "other" exposed in their group. Unfortunately, those people were the same ones who hadn't been cleared by the reporters, so I was clearing out all the suspicious people, and Sooth was hidden in the last place I'd look, right next to the other bodyguard. And I didn't learn I was wrong until after my death.
Now, before the last round, I thought that Ocular Gold, CrystyB, and Taflinel were the only possibilities for that bodyguard. So when OG was a mason, and CrystyB claimed to be with him, that left only Taf.
I personally thought that there were four members of the "stealth mafia", as I called them, one Democratic mafia, one Republican mafia, one Independent mafia, and one Radical mafia. Plus maybe a fifth "Mafia mafia". But I do think that changing roles in midgame was a bad move, especially after some had been investigated, and with no warning that there had been any change. |

You're lucky that you would have gone after me tonight because I was suspicous of TCM at this point and I investagated him again last night.
It was probably to the new mafia's advantage that they didn't kill the same night the other mafia did, we all thought it was a final member of the old mafia, but if there suddenly were two mafia kills I think we would have erased the old "innocent board" while with the democrats and repubilcans we thought they were innocent for sure.
Ah well, it was a good game, I just wish we could have completed it.
