No, I understand what you are saying, but I disagree. The best strategy has to do with probabilies.
Luck, if you choose to believe in such things, only has to do with the outcome and nothing to do with how you make choices or what choice should be made. EVEN IF the town had lost doctors in nights 3 and 4, the BEST play doesn't change. Town just would have gotten a bad beat.

Mathematically speaking, that plan was much more sound than how the game is usually played. Luck can go both ways. What if we had lynched the cop the first day, then lost a doc, then lynched another doc? What if we lynched the exploding Alien and lost the game altogether? What if Karn was actually an inactive player and DPW was faking it? Some possibilities you ignore. A smart player plays by the odds, instead of relying on luck. Any plan can go wrong if the other side gets lucky enough. See LV mafia.
Voting for DPW was a psychological move, which I was pretty sure would force the town to play well, ie with accordance to plan. The things I do for you guys.
