If instead of:
Use this forum to ask questions of the Minotaur (the keeper of the Grey Labyrinth).
The message said something TTEO:
Use this forum to ask questions about this bulletin board service to the Minotaur (the keeper of the Grey Labyrinth).

That might reduce the number of OT threads that newbies start. They aren't a big deal, but when everyone ignores or flames your first and only post it discourages you from coming. There's my two cents worth...

I always wondered why they don't use ducks a stools. Then I realized: You can't get down off a duck's back!

ARE YOU SERIOUS, or just dumb.... hehe Just Kidding

I agree, sometimes a newbie will ask a perfectly legitimate question, and get flamed to all hell and back for doing so. There is the faq, but alot of newbies don't know how to get to it, its sad really.

Maybe we just need to follow the rule: If it says icarian member, NO FLAMEING, Dead alians, Help yourself.

If a newbie asks a question, I will try to answer it, and then tell them about the faq at the same time, but I'm not always first there.

Thats my two bits.

As a 'newbie'. I made a post for which I now unreservedly apologise to Alfie ... it was meant purely in fun but I later realised how it could be taken ... Sorry ... won't happen again.

Eamonn.

No, no, no... That's not what I meant.

Eamonn, that isn't at all what I am talking about. And I don't think it was taken wrong anyway. (At least I wouldn't have.)

I am talking about puzzles (usually well known ones) posted by newbies in the ask the minotaur forum. People that come to the site for the first time and (I assume) don't spend much time exploring see 'Ask the Minotaur' and think 'Ahh, if I ask this guy my puzzle, he will answer it' ( don't we wish ). To my knowledge that isn't what the AtM forum is for. If the little message below the forum link is changed to specify tecnical questions. Thinking about it, they don't even have to be about just the forums.

The other problem is the Post Reply and Post New buttons. But then, they immediately see the problem and correct it without feeling like they have been cesured. (Not that I am suggesting we crisp newbies who do it )

But when people post puzzles in the AtM forum, they largely go ignored and when they are answered, they are answered with:
"I am sorry. You have posted in the wrong forum. Please post again the Visitor Submitted Puzzles Forum."
People don't want to be where people just cesure them, so they leave. For many, that is their last post. Any thoughts...

I put this in Feature Requests, because it was intended to be just that. I intended it to be a request that the text under the link be changed. (Unless I am mistaken, it shouldn't be hard to do... but then again I am prone to being mistaken .) Does anyone else think that this would help any?

Actually I don't think Minotaur minds if someone posts a riddle there, hes just REAL busy, and so we tell people to move them if they want a response, I'll try to move them from now on when I see them.
