I need help solving a riddle, it is as follows: While walking down a road, in search of the road to happiness I came to a fork in the road. At the entrance to each new direction was a man. One was a habbitual liar, the other could not lie. They both knew who is whom however I did not. I was told I could ask them each one question but it had to be the same question. I could not simply ask "Where is the road to happiness?" because I would get two different answers. So the riddle is: What is the question to ask to find the road to happiness? Hint: Both men know which road is the road to happiness. Any help will be appreciated.
thanks. |

Shall I issue a blistering insult, as is traditional when Newbies post riddles in this forum, especially chestnuts? No, I'm just too nice a guy.
Ask: "What road would the other person say I should go down?" Then go down the other. If you ask the truthteller, he will tell you the wrong answer the liar would give. If you ask the liar, he will lie about the correct answer the truthteller would give. |
