I would love to see a kind of flag indicating which of the Visitor Submitted Puzzles have been solved.

It can be frustrating opening puzzle after puzzle looking for "open" ones. There are others who repeatedly check back to see if the last post in a thread was the puzzler posting or confirming a solution.

The flag could be a check box or something, which the puzzler could mark by editing the post. Or, editing the subject a la "Solved: Kakapo puzzle" would be cool.

well, the closest thing is locking a post, which disallows any further posting in that thread and puts that belted folder icon there....

the thing is, you don't always want close the thread from further posting, and the thread starter can't do it...

if the minotaur would enable the icons, maybe we could come to a general consensus of what they mean, 'though i'm not sure if you can edit the icons (and i'm too lazy to go check on another ubb right now).

I'm not sure about this.. but I have some knowledge of ubb.. so lets see if this helps yaz..

Moderators can change the title.. so can admins.

I don't think Kevins current version of ubb has the ability to do icons.. however I'm not sure about that.

If mith would be willing maybe he could change the title when requested.. but this would be ALOT of maintanance, and may require a second moderator in vsp... or maybe just spliting up the vsp into sections.

Three by Threes:
Paladins:
Quotes:
Chess:
Cryptic Clues:
Misc:

And maybe one more folder that would be for solved puzzles, when a puzzle gets solved.. move it there. Or make a seperate solved folder for each group.. and just have one VSP thread????? I dunno.

I also don't think Kevins Current version of ubb will allow multiple moderators, but once again, I'm not positive; although I'm more sure about this than I am about the icons.

The alternative to multiple mods is a shared account that has moderation. The problem with this is that the password can be leaked out. (not a big deal here cause the only people that come here are nice).

Well???? What do you think???? Was I helpfull or worthless? lol..

A partial solution would be to have one thread in VSP where you can post when someone solves your puzzle. That way, at least there's only one thread to watch.

Hmm. Maybe these icons would be the way to go. When they are solved, any puzzle could turn into a tick.

Although I don't know if we need an icon for things as specific as 3x3s, which people might tire of. Maybe just one denoting word play. One for math, one for lateral thinking, etc.

Without any icons, i have seen many puzzles (especially ones with many questions/subpuzzles) to have IN THE FIRST MESSAGE (not in the title) a comment saying "Solved by ***". Wouldn't that suffice if it would be on the first line of the first message?

You'd still have to load the page, but It would be better I guess.

I personally don't care if a puzzle has been solved when I click on it. If it's of a sort that I like, I will try to figure it out anyway, usually without looking at the replies until I've thought it over for a minute or less.

It might be convenient to split the VSP to wordplay, math & numbers, etc.

bump.

I like a lot of the ideas in this thread.

I don't think we should split up VSP anymore.

It's already too big of a pain to visit different forums.
