Since there was some confusion last time, I'll spell out clearly the way I envsion this working. Everyone can post up to 20 movies to be included in the contest. Everything that gets at least 2 nominations will be in, after that it depends on how close we are to a power of 2, I'll keep you updated. Seeding will be determined by number of nominations.

Ideally, I would like you post your list of favorite/best movies beforereading what other people say, (To keep them from influencing your choices), but I'm not going to be a jerk about it. Just keep that in mind, eh?

There are no restrictions on what movies you can pick. Foreign is fine, but you might want to add translations for my benefit Wink
And of course *Glances at IS*, No pr0n Revenge most foul!

Enjoy!

Sorry, the computer at my work (I teach) does not like Cookies...

The 20 movies I would like to nominate are... (Director in parenthesis)
Yes.. no "classics" besides Rashomon. No big name/huge budget films here...

Movies.. raw and emotional films. (or... on the other hand, wickedly funny and brilliant)

Movies here are also part of a college course that I am drawing up plans for. Film/Literature comparitive studies class.

1- The Usual Suspects (Singer)
2- Fight Club (Fincher)
3- Cube (Natali - Canadian)
4- Rashomon (Kurosawa - Japanese)
5- Silence of the Lambs (Demme)
6- Vanilla Sky (Crowe)
7- When Harry Met Sally (Reiner)
8- This is Spinal Tap (Reiner)
9- Requiem for a Dream (Aronofsky)
10- Pi (Aronofsky)
11- Memento (Nolan)
12- Donnie Darko (Kelly)
13- The Princess Bride (Reiner)
14- Amores Perros (Gonzalez Inarritu- Mexico)
15- Brazil (Gilliam - UK)
16- Network (Lumet)
17- Kalifornia (Sena)
18- Defending Your Life (Albert Brooks)
19- Young Frankenstein (Mel Brooks)
20- Se7en (Fincher)

(wow... that was much harder than I anticipated.)

Wow, this is a much better result than we had for music. Maybe the clearer directions, or the fact that there are less movies than songs to chose from.

Allready have 55 with more than 1 nominations, and 5 that have five nominations.

"How on Earth did music beat out movies last time?"

I don't know. It was tight between Music, VG, and Movies. And it was tight again this tiem between VGs and Movies. They seem to be equally popular.

Maybe it's just easier for people to rattle off favorite movies than favorite songs? Being that there are way more songs to choose from?
