I haven't seen either of these, but at least I've heard of Suspects.

This is why I come to the GL - I have never before met anyone who hadn't liked the movie.

They're both good. They're just both very different. As is the case with most of these match-ups.

The Usual Suspects may be one of the best-done thrillers EVER -- great characters, fantastic dialogue, perfectly coordinated music, and, of course, the incredible ending.

Lost in Translation was also excellent, but it kind of faded for me at the end. Yes, life's like that, with no big Hollywood ending (and I think that was part of the whole point), but I left the movie feeling ho-hum. Sofia Coppola is impressive -- loved the Virgin Suicides.

I suspect I'd like the first (no pun intended), so I'll make an effort to see it. Suppose I should see the second out of fairness. Cannibal

I liked it, but I saw the ending coming a mile away. Still tons better than lost in translation. I found that movie completely unamusing and unsatisfying.

They're both interesting movies (Usual Suspects can drag at times, and Lost in Translation isn't a movie for everyone, but hey, I thought they were pretty good.) but I liked Lost in Translation more.

Usual Suspects was a bit easier to figure out. I was actually kinda close. With Sixth Sense I was like, (invizzed in case someone has yet to see it) "Huh? When? What? When he was shot??? He died when he was shot??! ... Makes sense..."

Again I vote for a movie that I have only seen in Russian. But...some pieces were Lost in Translation.

Well, I knew the secret to the Sixth Sense. I was sort of told ahead of time though.

When i went to see Sixth Sense in theatres, I missed the opening scene where the Bruce Willis Character gets shot. I walked in right as it changed to the "present day" part where's he's sitting on the bench waiting for the kid.

In this way, the end of the movie was a complete surprise, and, imo, it was a lot better that way. I went back and watched it again so i could see the beginning, and i was all like "Well... that kinda ruins the whole effect of the surprise ending. Glad i missed it the first time" Revenge most foul!

wordcross- It could easily have been assumed that he got better and his being shot was to show his failure with Vincent.

So was I. And that really pisses me off. I'll never know whether I would have figured it out on my own.
Didn't see the ending (beginning) to Memento coming, go figure.

This is really annoying, btw. I think people who are obsessed about "twist" endings often miss the movie, because they're so busy thinking about the ending. I hate going to something like "Scream" with people, and then have them trying to outguess the director the entire film. "It's the goldfish!", "no, it's the car!". I mean, who the hell cares. Nobody's really impressed if you really figured out The Usual Suspects, for example. It just means you enjoyed the movie less, nothing more.
