I love both of these, but in my opinion a New Hope is the worst of all 5 star wars movies. Not that I don't like it, but it just pales in comparison to the other 4.

I'm surprised to see JP in the lead. I found it a very average movie, but still like to rewatch the Star Wars 4-6 trilogy.

Jurassic Park was an average movie at best, how in the world did it make it this far in the voting? Razz

dethwing-ANH pales in comparison to the rest of the SW movies? Did you see Ep. I? I mean the duel with Maul at the end was the best EVER, but over all it was just bad, even the most die hard SW fan addmits this. As far as JP goes great movie, brought about a whole new era in digital effects. I loved it and still do but with out ANH the effects in all movies are still lousy.

I love Phantom Menace. The whole movie is great, not just one scene.

I think I would order them:

5 > 6 > 1 > 2 > 4

That's not to say I don't like 4. It's a good movie. It's just not AS good, you know what I mean?

Oooh, 6 was better than 1. I'll say even 2 was better than 1. 2 is watchable, 1 is not. The kid that played Anakin gives the original Charlie (from the chocolate factory) a run for his money as worst child actor.

I think you're right. I must have blocked out the obnoxious parts (especially the "we're coming out with a video game" race). If you ignore the ridiculousness of the battle on Endor, there's some fairly good scenes in 6.

Although I can't find much good to say about the acting of young adult Anakin, either.

I didnt like LotR either. It was ok, but i fell asleep watching the first one in the theatre. that puts a mild damper on things.

DPW has the same ranking as I do...except I'll put the double arrow between 1 and 2. I liked Attack of the Clones, but Phantom Menace is just painful to watch for the most part.

The only thing I remember hating about part 2 was the ridiculous bounty hunter chase scene with Anakin and Obi Wan. Anakin did more flying than Neo did in Matrix 3.

Dethwing-you have a right to your opinion. You present some good points of view. Personally I say that Ep. 1 was very bad, if not for Maul the whole thing would have sucked and I have watched this movie more than 10 times maybe even more than 20. I remember when it first came out I saw it 5 times in the first day alone. Since I was up all night after the 5th showing I actually convinced myself Jar -Jar was funny I just happen to think Ep 1 sucked.

My rankings for th series so far.

5>4>2>6>1

Oh and Jedi had some of the best space battle sequences of all time, but the Endor battle, I mean I thought the Stormtrooper Armor was supposed to protect against laser fire yet rocks and sticks get through? What's up with that?

Perhaps we should have a "most annoying Star Wars character" poll.

(Jar Jar? The Ewoks? Little Ani? Angsty Ani? "But I was going into Toshi Station to pick up some power converters..." Luke?)

sometimes I can't tell whether I like star wars because I grew up with it or because it's good. going with star wars, although it's hard to vote against a young Jeff Goldblum.

I agree completely, doormouse. Jurassic Park is a great movie. Sam Neill was cool and Jeff Goldblum was comedic. I watch this movie a lot and it never gets boring.

Personally, I like all Star Wars movies. Hence the being a Jedi thing. But, I do have my likes and dislikes. My order goes like this:

6>4>2>5>1

Ep. 6 was my favorite because Luke finally achieved Jedi Knight status. Ep. 4 was good because it marked the birth of the Star Wars saga. Of the original three, Ep. 5 was my least favorite because of all the training stuff on Dagobah. I mean, Yoda was humorous and definitely one of my favorite characters, but almost nothing was happening.

Next, I like Ep. 2 because of Natalie Portman and it's ties to the Stormtroopers in the middle trilogy. Finally, there's Ep. 1 which I enjoyed when it came out (and still do), but I was disappointed in Lucas because all of a sudden, 20 years earlier looks more high-tech. It's almost as if the Republic devolved.

mith, you better not be dissin' Luke. Don't make me go Sith on your ***.

Almost nothing happened? What are you talking about? Did you not see when luke went into the cave and confronted Vader only to find out that it was himself? How about when luke tried to lift his X-wing and failed only to have Yoda show him up and then Luke say, "I can't believe it" to which Yoda replies, " that is why you fail." both are simply chilling IMO. Simply the most important movie of the Orig. trilogy hands down you learned so much. most of which NO ONE saw comming.

Yeah, but like most movie fans, you don't want to sit through two-and-a-half hours of conversation. That's pretty much what that movie was. I mean, Luke was training and the Millenium Falcon was in an asteroid or on a Star Destroyer. Not many battles.

However, Ep.3 (which comes out on May 19, 2005) will have many battles-or at least one big one-as far as I can tell from previews.

Jedo-Not many battles? What about Hoth? The chase into the Asteroid Field? The duel between Vader & Luke? I understand about the dialog and all but it all was leading up to something it wasn't dialog just to have dialog.

but I digress this particular post is not for Empire there is one for that. Sorry for the hijack it won't happen again.
