Oh, great. My favourite Palahniuk vs. my favourite Adams. I went with Palahniuk, if only to give it a fair shot, but bleh.

LUE was good, but I haven't read Choke, so I won't be voting.

I'm going to try to read Choke this week if I get a chance. I'll probably end up voting LUE anyway, but who knows?

I don't know. Fight Club was a pretty good movie, and Choke is described as being a bit like the book Fight Club. Though, that depends on how much the movie was like the book. The descriptions of the book don't sound bad at all.

Plus, LUE isn't the best book. Good, yes. Outstanding, not to me.

~sighs~
Every book ever written by Chuck Palahniuk is immediately said to be "like Fight Club". This is mostly a sales thing - Fight Club is his only book to become famous. However, there are two things to keep in mind:
a) Fight Club the book is not Fight Club the movie. Different focus, different plot on some important aspects, different feel.
b) While the style is consistent, Palahniuk's books ARE different. "Survivor", for example, is nearly lighthearted, whereas reading Choke makes me lose my will to live.

I realize books and movies differ. I realize books by same authors - heck, even books in the same series - often differ from one another. All I'm saying is that the descriptions of Choke don't make me not want to read it, and that LUE wasn't so amazing that I don't see how anything can beat it. Since I can't give Choke a fair chance, I'm not voting. I'd rather vote for a book I thought was OK over a book I hated than over a book I never read.

Well, some books are very similar to the movies. Fight Club really isn't. Also, I'm not really trying to get you to vote LUE, if only because I voted Choke. I'm just discussing Felicitous

I don't think I've seen a movie that's been very accurate to the book. Even the best adaptation I can think of off the top of my head -- The Hunt for Red October -- wasn't that accurate compared to the book.

That'd be an interesting mini tournament -- what movie/miniseries/etc adaptation was truest to the book?
