Sweden controlled Norway until granting independence in 1905. Therefore there was no such thing as a Norwegian in the 19th century, making it unlikely that Einstein created it then (or at all).

It is true that Sweden controlled Norway until 1905, but the people of Norway called themselves Norwegians, and they were certainly known as Norwegians in the rest of the world, so I don't think you can say that there were no such thing as a Norwegian.
