I knew I recognized image 4.

Image 3 is the IBM logo spelled with xenon atoms.

Seeing as this is for charity, I'm going to throw a few answers here and there if they get raised and it's one of the 7 I already know. This one's easy. Number 2 doesn't belong. It's the only image not produced by human hands (with the exception of being taken with a camera) the others were drawn.

It's not the size of the spork, it's whether or not it's made of #7 recyclable plastic.

The problem with "which one doesn't belong" type questions is that there are almost invariably several answers that can be argued for. Therefore, one should generally try to find some characteristic that really stands out to eliminate one.
Basically, what I'm trying to get around to is, do you have any particular reason to give that answer, apart from it being correct? Because, frankly... it's a pretty boring solution. That's just my humble opinion, of course, no offense meant, just wondering, insert your favorite disclaimer here.

How about this idea - Image two because it is the only image in its entirety. The other pictures are cropped from a bigger picture.

One idea:
Image 4 appears to be upside down - the others are right side up.
Image 3 uses false color - the others are original color.
Image 2 is of a complete object - the others are cropped.
Image 1 has no unique characteristic - therefore it doesn't belong with the others.

(I've never posted in this forum before, but this puzzle kinda intrigues me...)

I imagine it would be something slightly trickier than one of them being in its entirety, or taken as a photograph, or whatever... Andy's answer would work, only Image 4 is actually the right way up I think... (I followed that link, and am rather intrigued by the site, although I guess this is not the place to be discussing it.)
Anyone know what Image 1 actually is? I can't tell

Image 1 is part of the Voynich manuscript... you can find more info about it by searching for it in any search engine (:

Sofis, THOSE ARE NO ATOMS!!! Do you really know what an atom looks like? If not, i'll tell you: 99% or more is EMPTY space. Vacuum. Zilch. Whatever you call it.

No CB, I'm afraid I don't know what atoms look like. I've never seen one . Perhaps calling it a representation of the IBM logo in xenon atoms is more true...

Those are atoms. The picture was taken using a STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope). Even though atoms are most empty space a STM can "see" them using specialized aparatus.
