Let me say this is a serious question, even though the subject matter may be humorous to children.
Symptoms: About four days ago I experienced pain in what would best be described, if you were looking out in my direction, as immediately behind my right testes. This pain only occurs when I begin a bowel movement, not during or with any exertions, only at the beginning or any restart.
I don't feel any pain typically associated with hernias (pain when lifting, coughing, sneezing, etc).
I have this idea that things aren't flowing the right way, which would cause infection among other things. I don't have insurance and while I could find the money to see a GP it would amount to living on rice for a month or four.
So I'm reluctant to do that, but I'm fairly scared. If anyone has any knowledge of medicine I would be most grateful for advice. |

Sounds like Epididymitis.

It is important that this condition be distinguished from testicular torsion (a reduction or stoppage of the blood flow to the testicle) which requires emergency care.
Testicular torsion is a surgical emergency and should be treated as soon as possible.
Acute testicular pain should never be ignored. |
Sounds like good advice to me.
Get it checked out.
I'd rather be poor than dead. |

Treatment:
Medications to treat infection are prescribed. Sexually-transmitted infections require special antibiotics, and the patient's sexual partners should also be simultaneously treated. Pain medications may be required and anti-inflammatory medications are often prescribed.
Bed rest, with elevation of the scrotum and ice packs applied to the area, is recommended. It is very important to have a follow-up visit with your health care provider to evaluate whether the infection has completely resolved. |
Antibiotics, check. Ice packs, check. Elevation of the scrotum? I can't even visualize that. |

| Hm. It turns out that what I meant was "I don't want to visualize that." I wish I knew how to un-see something. |

I would also not discount Prostatitis. An enlarged Prostate can interefere with bowel movements, especially if it's enlarged enough. Certain levels of Prostatitis can range from the severe lower body infection where virtually everything from the torso down can be painful, to the minor where just the testies feel tender.
Just visit the doctor to be safe and sure. |

Jack_Ian: Thanks, but that doesn't seem to fit my symptons. I don't have swelling, I don't have a fever, and the pain isn't aggravated by bowel movements, it ONLY occurs when beginning my bowel movement. Essentially, when I release my sphincter.
Also, unless I got it from a toilet seat it is nigh impossible that I have an STD (having been tested a year after my last sexual encounter).
Blighty Chap*: Thanks, I was thinking something along the lines of the prostate too, and anything having to do with the prostate are no joke. Bugger. |

I know this may sound a bitch and a bit of a long shot, but if you're hard pushed on the cash side to see a doctor then one solution to narrow it down is this;
Get hold of some antibiotics called Ciprofloxacin (If your a Yank, it may be called something different such as Cipro) These, if it's a first Prostatitis attack, will usually kill it off within 7 days. If the pain is still there, then it's something other than Prostatitis or urinery tract infection.
On a herbal side note, Saw Palmetto, Zinc and Pumpkin seeds are good for Prostatitis. I should know as I suffer real bad from it. |

| You shouldn't take any sort of prescription drug without first seeing a doctor or the like. |

My dad's a doctor. I remember seeing him once or twice. I guess I can take all the drugs I want. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Except for the dieing at the end and the heartbreak in between. |

Reason why I said it's a bitchy long shot.
Most drugs come with a sturdy info leaflet that gives all the medical info usually needed. They go over the top too, just to protect themselves from law suits. |
