This article definitely agrees with my own experience. I was a TA for a first-year programming course last fall. I think the failure rate was about 40-50%, despite the fact that for many students, it was the course that they devoted the most time to.

Baaaa. I had to take up programming as a hobby because Cincinnati Public ~~Shit~~ Schools dosn't teach programming in High Schools. I'm mediocre at best.
