All you have to do is take of the blind fold then divide, because to turn crimson is to turn red.

...so by having your blood turn the bone chips crimson, the NEXT person can benefit from your death? How generous of you! I hope you die before my turn...

What are you talking about? The riddle states that if you lift off the blind fold, then the gaurd behind you will turn the bones a bright crimson. There is nothing about killing you if you take off the blind fold.

should you decide to lift your blindfold,
that should be enough of a warning...

the man behind you will ensure that all of the tokens rather quickly turn a bright crimson.
a CERTAIN bright crimson, a bloody-red one that is! How do you think it would have been accomplished any other way? Magic tokens???

True, I never thought of it that way, so my next solution will be word techniquality. The state says "If you should LIFT...." To lift is to raise, so if you pull down then you are not lifting it.

I'm new to this! Are you all messing about?
Count out 129 random tokens, turn them all over. The two piles do not need to be equal!

But you could grab all 129 red discs and then turn them over to green.

Exactly. In which case there would be zero reds in each group. Totally excellent solution, as my grandson would say. Felicitous

The problem with "flipping all 129" is that the puzzle states that there are HUNDREDS of tokens.
The solution is exactly what Mole posted 03-21-2002 04:49 AM - Take a group of 129 tokens out. Flip them. The following shows all examples (the number of green left, X, is irrelevant):

TAKE OUT - 129 red 0 green LEAVE 0 red X green; FLIPPING gives you 0 red on each side.
TAKE OUT - 128 red 1 green LEAVE 1 red X green; FLIPPING gives you 1 red on each side.
TAKE OUT - 127 red 2 green LEAVE 2 red X green; FLIPPING gives you 2 red on each side.
...
TAKE OUT - 2 red 127 green LEAVE 127 red X green FLIPPING gives you 127 red on each side.
TAKE OUT - 1 red 128 green LEAVE 128 red X green FLIPPING gives you 128 red on each side.
TAKE OUT - 0 red 129 green LEAVE 129 red X green FLIPPING gives you 129 red on each side.

That make it clearer?
