I feel a whole lot dumber for having read that Will. That's a great way to ruin a classic puzzle.

Nice rotational puzzle this.

what is greater then god Death or Hunger
and is more evil than the devil God
and many people have it Evil
and it sees the fall of kings and nations People
and if you eat it you will die pretty quickly? Kings (When the poor eat like kings today they starve tomorrow)

The puzzle only gives the desired result to Christians.

Francis, your puzzle was really dumb. And the original puzzle is NOT just for Christians, but all who believe in God---Jews, Muslims, etc. All except for the devil part, that is, but I think everyone has at least heard of the devil.

What is the “etc”? Jews, Christians and Muslims is it. There are only 3 monotheistic cults. The Muslims would consider it blasphemy to use their gods name in such a way, and the Jews do not have a totally evil being in their theology. Therefore the puzzle is a Christian one. QED

Further the “dumb” puzzle is not mine – I am just querying a piece of religious propaganda put out in the form of a puzzle the answer to which is only correct if you are a true believer. Do you think that a puzzle is a puzzle is a puzzle and that there can be no other agenda or purpose to which a puzzle can be put?

Personally I consider any straight line puzzle ( one that has only one correct answer that can be derived from the initial premises ) to be more a way of confirming and codifying learnt lessons and only lateral and open ended puzzles to be ones that you can learn from.

Lets see you post an answer that does not rely on one system of theology or cultural preconceptions and then you can say mine is “dumb”.

It was part of an April Fool's joke, so it's not ever really up for debate.

(but it does fit in with the "person" supposedly posting them)

I heard this as a child in the form:

What is greater than god,
more evil than the devil,
rich people want it,
poor people have it, and
it will kill you if you eat it.

At first I thought it might be some sort of anagram based thing,
and the snack food: "Devil dogs" occurred to me.

)
Then I thought, Nah - that can't be right..."

Dudes.

Try "nothing".

To solve the puzzle doesn't require you to be Christian. It requires you to have an extremely base knowledge of Christianity. Y'know, rather than being shut up in your own little square.

It's nice to see that an April Fool's puzzle still attracts reactions in November. Not very productive though. I'll lock this.
