| Shouldn't deleting the first post of a thread delete the entire thread? |

No, it shouldn't.
This is to prevent people who start topics from having the ability to delete everybody else's posts, or destroy a big topic.
Like, if the original poster of the Happy thread got mad at the GL and decided to delete that thread.
Mods and Admins can delete whole topics in one fell swoop by using the icons in the lower left of the screen. I believe it's the far-left button, the X. _________________

That's a good philosophy, but it has nothing to do with how phpBB works. In phpBB, if you're a regular user, you can delete only the last post in the thread, if you are the person who posted it.
So, if a thread has only one post, and the user who posted it deletes it, the thread is deleted.
Otherwise, the user cannot delete the first post in a thread, so the question is moot.
Mods and admins can delete any post in any thread, and then the result is that subsequent posts are pushed up, messing up "PAGE XXX" posts and the such. _________________ After years of disappointment with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme. And quick! |

So we only have to worry about angry mods/admins. Good.
