* see page 4 for final standings *

This is the official 4th GL Puzzle Competition Sign-Up Thread.

The competition will start Monday, 07/16 EST.

Anyone wishing to participate just post here, or email or PM me with your interest. Just provide a valid email address since puzzles will be emailed rather than posted here for viewing.

Who can participate? Anyone! All that I require is if anyone outside the GL participates...friends, relatives, unregistered lurkers, etc. that have no registration here, give me a username I can at least refer to in any postings of the participant list.

A big thanks to Samadhi who has volunteered to help with the grading of the puzzles as a separate subjective scorer for giving partial or even full credit if the answer sent is not one I intended, so any questions and answers should be sent to both of us.

The RULES & MISC. INFO:
1) The competition will consist of 4 rounds. Each round having 5 puzzles.
2) Each round will be one week long. Puzzles will be sent out by the start of each Monday (USA EST), and due by the end of the following Monday.
3) The puzzles will vary in style from math, to logic, wordplay, and lateral type thinking. They're all written for the single solver.
4) Puzzle details should not be discussed with other participants or GL members. Obviously it can't be enforced, but ideally these puzzles should be your sole effort Felicitous
5) Any outside reference material is allowed if you think it will help.
6) Questions are always welcome, but any puzzle clarifications and possible hints resulting from anyone's questions will be sent out to everyone participating.

This is an individual competition.

All the puzzles are generally 'you have a clue what to do' or 'you don't have a clue where to start'

This isn't a THP puzzle event, and you won't have puzzles where you need to solve ten cryptic clues to get a final answer...and having a team would benefit where each contributed to getting to the next stage of a particular puzzle.

It's all in fun of course and it's just to see what you can personally do. And even though some puzzles might be tough, I'm sure no one who visits the GL for puzzles will be clueless on all the puzzles each round. Each round does have one puzzle where you can flex some partial math with logic skills Felicitous

Also, don't forget to give me email addresses you prefer, since I'm not sure each person playing wants to use the one in their GL email button profile.

I was going to say I'd be in to prove you wrong, but you covered yourself nicely with "one who visits the GL for puzzles." *nudge*

I'm in anyway. Can't hurt to try, eh? You can use the e-mail in my profile, unless you expect any puzzle files to be large. I can give you an alternate e-mail in that case.

My pleasure to be on the "inside" as it were.

I must say, and I hope it's not out of line for me to do so, that this is a fine set of puzzles that challenge multiple aspects of puzzling. Anyone who doesn't sign up is missing out.

Hmmm, I just thought of something here. Does anyone know how Spam Blockers treat emails with lots of people in the CC list? Do any of them filter on that? If anyone knows a number I shouldn't exceed I could just break it up and send out multiple emails.
