After a night in the disco, John and Jack went home with two women - Susan and Sally.
They agreed that every man will have sex with both women.
But each of them - John, Jack, Susan and Sally had a venereal disease, and they did not want to infect each other.

Was it possible to fulfil their plan if they had only two condoms.

Note that in the end, none of them should have caught a veneral disease. If both men use the same condom they WILL get infected. The same goes for the women.

How about for bad taste?

Moreover, it's not actually possible the way it's described, insofar as (a) the intended solution involves one of the men wearing two condoms at once, which violates the "if both men use the same condom they WILL get infected" rule--what was meant was something like "if both men use the same side of the same condom," and (b) in any case, reusing a condom, which this requires, will not guarantee them protection from venereal diseases. Consult your doctor or physician.

In the end, they sat around and roasted chestnuts over a fire instead, and blew up the condoms to use as decorative balloons.

Kids! Using two condoms at once, also known as "double-bagging", is not safe. The friction between two latex or polyurethane condoms can make one or both break, leaving you unprotected from diseases and pregnancy. Only use one condom at a time.

This has been a public service announcement from the International Coalition of Random Helpful Internet People.

Sorry to offend anyone, but this puzzle has kind of a cool answer.
If you don't want to get grossed out, you can stop reading now.
.
.
.
.
Two condoms - C1 & C2.
Each condom has an inside and an outside.
Let C1's inside be John's, and C1's outside be Sally's.
Let C2's inside be Jack's, and C2's outside be Susan's.

First, John puts C1 in C2 and does Susan.
John takes off C2, gives it to Jack, and does Sally with C1 only.
Jack takes C2 and does Susan.
When John and Sally are done, Jack puts C2 in C1 and does Sally.

(P.S. yeah, I know… condoms break, there's other ways to get infected, sex should be procreative, yada yada…My advice? lighten up. It's a puzzle.)

My advice? Read the archives. It's an old puzzle, and the last time it appeared here I posted a citation to the mathematical journal in the 1970s that generalized the problem to m and n rather than two and two.
