I'm subscribed to two threads - French Mafia and Acrophilia. I haven't received any updates on those threads since Friday.
I missed only two updates from Manatee Mafia.
Why does thread watching not always work? How is it supposed to work? |

It's supposed to email you whenever there's a new post in one of those threads.
Have those worked in the past and suddenly stopped working?

I've noticed some misses. They're sporadic though. There's always a certain amount of email that is just lost. I've always attributed it to that since I'm never able to reproduce the problem.

That's not entirely impossible. I'm not sure what server phpBB uses to send its mail, but it's possible things get delayed or even lost on it.

I noticed three within the last ~5 days which is abnormal. It could be that the mail processor failed but still set the flag to "email sent, thread not viewed." It's all guess work though until the issue can be reliably repeated.

Yes, both of these threads in question worked in the past.

This implies you won't get an email every time, but I should have gotten far more than I did - one every time after visiting the thread and there is an update. I don't visit the site unless I log in. Do you have to use the email link to the thread to trigger the "visit" or does it look at actual logins and thread visit? |

| I always log in when I visit, like yesterday when I posted here.. I didn't get a notice today about Acrophilia or French Mafia, and I visited both threads yesterday. |
