Today we moved the Grey Labyrinth forum database to the new server, in anticipation of the general site move in the near future. Seems to have gone pretty smoothly, but if you encounter any problems, please post them to this thread.

Not sure if this is related to the move, but searching posts seems to be incomplete.

e.g. only 12 instance of the word "infinite"

Could be, but I doubt it. We've had searching issues ever since the 2004 change. And there are many other known bugs with the search function.
[Edit: But the move did put me over 20k (delta ~60-70) posts so clearly there was a change.]

As Samadhi said, it's very unlikely. These search problems are the Achiles heel of phpBB. Basically, posts in a certain time frame (I don't remember exactly which, most likely posts from before Hy's comeback) aren't indexed properly.

Okay, I am assuming this is because of the format change, er, whatever.

But now advertisements?
Grey border around the topics that makes itself known?
Broken images of the links to 'Discussion' 'Puzzles' etc.?

This bothers me greatly, cheapens the forum, is the GL at a lack of money that they need to put advertisements up? (not sure if this is a financial kind of thing)

So, to this rather sudden adjustment, I have to say why?

Sorry, I don't mean to complain, just seems to make posting here rather irritating, which would be bad if this permanent. Melancholy

TGC: Basically, for many years The Minotaur has been paying for our enjoyment out his own pocket. He's been extremely patient and has allowed us to try other methods of mitigating the cost. In the end, ads seem to be the solution. They don't flash and they're unobtrusive; so I'd say well done.

The design change is one that we'll work on. With GL community help and feedback, it's been done before. We'll do it again.
