bah! I've been busy IRL, and forgot to keep up with this. Sorry. Let me read back over today (and the original claim-counterclaim) and make up my mind.

Hehe, sorry, I've been sick.

The townskeys surround MNOWAX and beat him to death with his own broken caps lock key. It soon becomes apparent that MNOWAX was, in fact, the End key, roleblocker.

Quailman and MatthewV look around nervously and notice with great apprehension the mischievous smiles on the faces of Leonidas and theopholis.

"Hey... guys... Can't we talk about this? We're all fr--" said MatthewV, just before being deleted.
"You really aren't thinking this through--you can't delete me, I'm a doc. I hereby protect myself!" interjects Quailman.
The mafia shrug, and, grabbing Quailman by the arms (the + key has arms), drag him away towards the lynchin' pole.

Game Over! Scum Win!

Roles
B Key - Vanilla Townie - Courk/Dutters
O Key - Vanilla Townie - Dragon Phoenix
R Key - Vanilla Townie - MatthewV
E Key - Vanilla Townie - MNOWAX I
D Key - Vanilla Townie - Middle Aged Guy
Esc Key - Unlynchable Townie - Persona
F1 Key - Cop - Poison_Ivy/Poisonium
End Key - Roleblocker - MNOWAX II
+ Key - Doctor - Quailman
Del Key - Mafia Godfather - Livingod/Undercover Monk
Backspace Key - Mafia - theopholis
Num Lock Key - Mafia - Sefer/Leonidas

I'll post the PM's later, when I'm feeling a little better.

My first experience as a mod has come to a close. Any comments, tips, complaints, etc. are welcome and appreciated. Well, the complaints may not be appreciated, but they'll be accepted and probably apologized for.

Thanks all for playing. I think this game ended up being really strange and interesting, despite a (relatively) simple layout. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did!

bah! I didn't think the mafia would go after the uncertain cop since there was probably a doctor out there who could protect him.

Thanks for the game, CzarJ ! I enjoyed it a lot. So you had picked the townie letters from the string "BORED" - interesting. Until the very end, I was convinced you had picked them among those of "KEYBOARD", since this was... Keyboard mafia ! Wink

I feel that 3 mafia is too many for a twelve person game. Even with some special roles. The problem comes that too many people are trying not be helpful- the town only has a hope is all its good members are being highly active.

A more positive side note: I did like the setup and the game was fun to play (until December, when all games seem to die).

I have a complaint: You started this in August, when I was far too busy to be in a game. Shame on you.

I have to agree with MattV here. So, in order to bring some balance between a mafia size 3 and a town with a cop, a role-blocker, an unlynchable townie, a doc, and a confirmed D-key, theopholis and I decided that only one of us would vote on the last day.

Hehe, originally I was going to go with "VANIL." I think "BORED" was Amb's suggestion, but I can't remember for sure. I wanted something that was five letters and described the vanilla townies, but wasn't easy to guess. =P

I disagree--I think a 3:1 ratio is reasonable in a game of any size, especially with almost half the town having some sort of power role. Then again, you guys lynched the GF night 2 and avoided kills three of the first four nights and still lost convincingly, so maybe I'm wrong. =P
It's funny, though, the simultaneous complaints I got either in-game or in PM's that a) the town was overpowered with a doc and RB, and b) the mafia was overpowered with three members.

ROLE PM'S

Quote:
You are the [B,R,E,D, Esc*] key. You are a member of the town. Neat, huh?

Quote:
You are the O key. The Dust Bowl has hit your family especially hard, and you are preparing for the difficult journey to California, the land of opportunity.** You are a member of the town.

Quote:
You are the F1 key, also known as the keyboard kop.*** You "help" the town by providing information about the other players. Each night, you may choose one player to investigate. PM your choice to me, and I will return a result of "innocent" or "guilty."

Quote:
You are the + key, doctor for the town. You may choose one player each night to target, and if that player would have died that night due to another player's night action, they will be spared.

Quote:
You are the End key, roleblocker for the town. You may choose a player each night to target, and if this player performs a night action, they will be unable to act on that night. You can even choose yourself if you want, but that runs the risk of blowing your mind.

Quote:
You are the Delete key, godfather of the keyboard mafia. If investigated, you will appear innocent.

Your fellow mafia members are Sefer and theopholis****. Each night, the three of you shall choose one player to target, and PM that choice to me. Anyone can send the PM, and the last PM I receive before the night ends will be considered the official choice. You may not discuss the game with each other during the day.

Quote:
You are Backspace, member of the keyboard mafia.

Your fellow mafia members are Livingod (godfather) and Sefer. Each night, the three of you shall choose one player to target, and PM that choice to me. Anyone can send the PM, and the last PM I receive before the night ends will be considered the official choice. You may not discuss the game with each other during the day.

Quote:
You are Num Lock, member of the keyboard mafia. Don't ask me, Amb thought it was funny.

Your fellow mafia members are Livingod (godfather) and theopholis. Each night, the three of you shall choose one player to target, and PM that choice to me. Anyone can send the PM, and the last PM I receive before the night ends will be considered the official choice. You may not discuss the game with each other during the day.

*I decided, mainly in an effort to balance the game, not to tell Persona that she was unlynchable, although I'm sure she figured something up when every other vanilla townie turning up dead was a letter. Any thoughts?
**It's a Grapes of Wrath joke.
***This just popped into my head, and I thought it was funny, but it had the unintended but understandable consequence of making Poisonium question his sanity.*****
****Later, at the request of Livingod, I also sent out to each mafia the role names of the other mafia.
***** I question Poisonium's sanity all the time.

Think of it this way:
Night 1, a townsman dies (8 Town ,3 Mafia)
Day 1, another townsman dies [this almost always is the case] (7 Town, 3 Mafia)

So unless A) the mafia fail to kill nights 1 and 2 or B) day one lynches mafia, the scum have a very strong weight.

And that is also why I support 14 person games. At the start of night 2 there should be balanced setup with 12 people. Both sides can get a head start by taking out power roles but that is still fair.

The other interesting thing is if there are multiple town roles that are similar, there is a heavy distrust that the other guy is telling the truth. If I am a doctor, I wouldn't believe a claimed doctor.

And what is the fun of being an unlynchable townie without knowing it??? I loved getting a free lynch in manatee mafia because I could stick my head far out (and happened to catch scum by doing so).
