I'm currently arguing pro-pot on another forum. I remember a long time ago there was a thread in OT where Fried Egg, Samadhi and probably a bunch of other people posted a whole bunch of speculation and heresy about how evil rope makers made pot illegal. However, if memory serves, there were also links to actual scientific studies that showed that pot is a lot less addictive than most abusable substances, and has no provable long-term effects.
Does anyone still have those links?

Not rope makers. It was primarily Hearst (or another newspaper owner) who worked for the prohibition of marijuana (in fact he is primarily responsible for it being called by the Spanish name instead of something less xenophobia inducing like hemp).

I take it you're just too lazy to search manually?

Search manually meaning hitting google, or browsing OT?

Oh dang. I guess that discussion was pre-2003. Too bad, there was some good data there. I found these posted by extro in another thread. I'd be sure to follow through to what they cite instead of just citing them since they're obviously not neutral.

I've been reading the last one and it has pot specific topics and seems well cited.

I was actually very impressed with druglibrary.org.
