Hey all,

This got weirder. The main page doesn't want to load, and if I type http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion into my address bar, that doesn't work. Yet I did a google search of grey labyrinth off topic, clicked the second link that came up, and it works. If it makes a difference, the actual address in my address bar when I do that is http://qs709.pair.com/wx3qs/greylab/discussion/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=9c4168e3dfeca03092372883174abb40

Umm... yeah. Odd.

There are a few other sites that aren't working too well. One mentioned just a few days ago that they were having issues with their speed, and others are sites I've not been to. Yet other sites I'm new to work fine.

I have a cable modem. Is it at all possible that the cable company could be working on lines somewhere and that that's affecting access to some sites?

Now everything seems to be working just peachily. I wonder what that was all about.

I used to get problems like this while I was living in Vancouver last year. As best I could determine, my ISP (ADSL from 'Telus') was doing something funky with packet filtering algorithms that would de-prioritize certain URLs, thus making them very slow to load... if they didn't time out. That's no more than poorly-informed speculation, of course.

Everything's been peachy today, except for the fact I had to reset my router earlier. I think that's the first time I've had to do that with the new one. I'm going with my uneducated assumption and will blame the cable company.

I was getting intermittant sql errors.

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/greylab/public_html/discussion/db/mysql4.php on line 331
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

A refresh fixed the problem in most cases.

Not sure where "too many" connections are coming from.
