Two of the greatest Sci-fi series ever face off! Hold on to your hats for this one folks! _________________ The Classic Blunders:
1. never get involved in a land war in Asia
2.Never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line
3. Never release Peyton Manning

Twilight Zone all the way!
It just has way more imagination then any Star Trek (which I hate)
I am not very fond of the sci-fi genre in general or black and white shows but I love Twilight Zone. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

| The Trek voters are obviously forgetting Wesley Crusher. That's understandable. The mind blocks out unpleasant memories. This thread should be started over now that I've reminded them. |

| Wesley? What was wrong with him? He was a little whiney early on, but really grew throughout the series. |

Sorry, gonna have to go with Twilight Zone on this one, I never could shake the fact that ST was just a flashier version of SW. Besides, the stories were never quite the same on Twilight Zone. And you know me and inconsistency. _________________ Potato. Belgium. Eight. Random Lynch # Mafia awaits. |

Oh man, all the credibility that TGC built up by crushing Family Guy gets thrown out the window. |

It's a shame that I don't know too much from the very little I've seen of them. What hours lost when I could've been hopelessly watching some ficiticous series of science-ficition T.V. how much I could've known every little detail about every character and episode to the point that I'd nearly stalk Mr. Nimoy and Mr. Shatner themselves. OH WHAT A TRAGEDY THAT I VOTE FOR AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF WORK THAT DERIVES ITSELF FROM THE STRANGEST PHENOMENONS!!! Instead of some show that derives itself from a theme of fighting forces in space which was then repeated 8 million times, so much that they simply become washed up memorbilia of the times the television watchers of the world used to know. Spock himself is probably ashamed that he must come from the same species as I do.
But instead I vote TZ which actually entertains me and its theme which can only be pulled off once, and it was, and its glorious broadcastings were not soiled as much by merchandising and spinoffs and ripoffs. Hardly having a dull moment. Oh well, time to go home and hold Star Wars higher than Star Trek for its philosophical standpoints in its movis, living a disgraceful life not really liking Star Trek.

I'd have more respect for your opinion if (a) you knew anything about the history of Star Trek (which you don't) (b) you knew anything about the history of science fiction (which you clearly don't) and (c) you were able to refrain from an ad hominem attack on the fans of a particular show rather than comment on the show itself.
The fact that The Twilight Zone is indeed a superior show to Star Trek: The Next Generation in oh-so-many ways doesn't diminish the childishness of your remarks however. _________________

I prefer Twilight Zone as well. My surprise was directed at your opinion that (apparently the original series of) Star Trek "was just a flashier version of " Star Wars. Noting: Star Wars was released years after Star Trek was cancelled; Star Trek was a television show and had a correspondingly lower special effects budget (Spock's pointy ears ate up most of the alien costume budget; the Klingons looked like dirty humans until remakes in the 90s); Star Wars was a space western, while many of Star Trek's episodes were written by the best science fiction writers of the day.
Now, get off my lawn! |
