3 years.
3 years since the Cylons attacked Caprica. 3 years since we had to desert our homes and our families. 3 years since we ran off into space, to live on these floating hulks we now call home, packed into cargo bays and storage compartments like rats. 3 years of hardship after hardship, disappointment after disappointment. 3 years of hell.
We've been through a lot. The mutiny on Kobol, the loss of Cloud 9 and the Pegasus, the nightmare of New Caprica. We struggle to live, to survive, day after day. Nothing's certain anymore, and even those of us who try to stay strong, who remind people to keep alive the goal of finding Earth, find that light growing ever dimmer. Water, food, fuel, everything is in short supply, and if we don't find Earth soon, we'll die, and with us will disappear the entirety of the human race.
And then there are the cylons. They look like us now. They talk like us, act like us, some even say they're starting to feel like us. The thought of a feeling cylon makes me shudder, but the rumors are hard to fight. We've seen 7 different types of cylons out there already, infiltrating our military, our media, our government. There are still some out there we haven't found yet. They could be anywhere, hiding on a basestar, waiting for us on Earth, maybe even hiding among us in the fleet. That last thought sends chills down my spine, the idea that there are cylons living and working among us, just waiting for their time to strike. We need to find them. We need to hunt them down and destroy them before they can do the same to us.
It's the only way we can survive.

Question: how far into season 4 does this game draw content from? I'm currently watching season 4 as it is broadcast by English TV and though I'd love to play, I won't if it means a load of spoilers.

Well, the plot is rather involved.. You see, there's a small informed group of people who have infiltrated a larger group that is trying to discover who is from the smaller group..
oh, wait.. nevermind. I guess you'll be fine..  Mostly you just have to say Frack! a lot and mutter things about prophesies and no one will know you've never seen it. |

Just like with any other themed mafia game, knowledge of the backstory will help, but it's not essential. In the end, this is still a game of mafia.  |

True but if you're ever casting power roles that coordinate with the overall aura of the character they play it might influence the game greatly. i.e. French Mafia.
