My brother and I have a little dispute going over how "Malleus Malficarum" is pronounced. Anyone take more than my zero years of Latin and can tell me how it should be pronounced? (Any possible proof that you're not guessing would be great, too.)

Anyone who answers is guessing. Some more educated than others, but since we only have VIII tracks from the time and no players, no one will ever know for sure.

măl'ē-əs măl'ā-fĭ-cahr’-uhm

I had three years of Latin in high school. Our teacher taught us the correct pronunciation because Latin was his native tongue.

I assume you're trying to figure out which syllables to stress, since the letter sounds are straight forward. The C is a hard C, of course.

In Latin words that have more than two syllables, you usually stress the second-to-last syllable, unless that syllable is light. Then, you go for the third-to-last syllable. So, the stress would be:

Malleus Malificarum.
