Hey all,
This will be my last post on the G.L. I've had some great times on this site but I've decided to cease visiting. This is nothing to do with the site, the management, or anything else, and everything to do with the fact that (a) I can't afford to spend so much time online anymore, (b) I'm finding less and less topics to contribute to, and (c) I don't really take any enjoyment from making puzzles anymore.
Also, it's no secret that the tone of OT has turned very nasty in recent times. There's open animosity between posters that never existed when I first joined. It runs very much at odds with the frivolous, light-hearted, and (in places) contemplative tone of the rest of the site. I take full responsibility for contributing to this problem far more than solving it. Like many people, I tend to say things online that I wouldn't in real life and, well, it gets out of hand.
Anyway, love, hugs, best wishes, and innumerable Kakapo's to everyone...even Death Mage

P.S.- Sissy Cecil, tired of getting sand kicked in his face, has decided to join a gym. However, when he turns up for his first session he goes to the dumbells and sees that they have all been put out of their proper order. Now, Cecil is obsessive about keeping everything in its proper place and resolves to rearrange the weights into their correct order before starting his workout.
The weights should be in this order:
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28
Where each number is the weight of the dumbell in kilo's.
However, they are actually in this order:
28, 24, 22, 16, 2, 8, 14, 12, 6, 10, 26, 18, 4, 20.
Now, Cecil is quite the weakling so he can only carry one weight at a time. He can move plates 2 to 8 three places in either direction. He can move plates 10-18 two places in either direction, and he can move plates 20-28 only 1 place in either direction.
However, there is an exception. When the weight of one dumbell divides into the weight of a dumbell that it is next to, Cecil gets so enthused that he receives an extra boost of strength and is able to pick up both weights and deposit either of them up to four places in either direction from where he picked them up (for example, if 6 and 24 were next to eachother, Cecil could place the 6 three places to the right and the 24 four places to the left, or whatever). However, similar unfathomable complusions prevent him from keeping those two weights together (ie. if 6 and 24 were next to eachother, they would have to be separated by at least one weight by the time he'd finished moving them).
Yeah. Cecil's weird.
Anyway, Cecil is able to rearrange the weights in the absolute bare minimum amount of moves necessary.
What were those moves? |

Okay, now that it got one response... 
Farewell threads like this are difficult to respond to, not easy to find words for someone who says "I am too busy now.. and besides that, the place is not enough fun, the atmosphere has grown grumpy and cold".
Gomez claims OT has turned nasty in recent times. I don't think that is the case but any perceived animosity is not a new concept, there has always been some quarreling off and on, riffs have come and gone. I am not proud to admit I have been a negative culprit in off topic, at one time or another have been angry with almost everyone except Courk. Even got angry with you DP, one of the best people the GL has known and the nicest person one could meet.
Gomez says he takes full responsibility for some of the animosity he claims exists now more prevalently than before. Although I don't think Gomez has been a problem, taking responsibility doesn't constitute abandoning the site.
It's just sad to see Pablo successfully run off yet another member. Why, just the other day he was posting in off topic, making sexist comments about luminous, implying her gazoombahs are less than major league and calling her a hostess ho-ho. She has not posted ever since.
He also went out of his way to put me down simply because I did not know what a zinger was, and I admit, I was tempted to leave the site because of it.
But I did not leave. I am going to stick around, kill Pablo with kindness and understanding, do my best to clean up this perceived nasty and aloof atmosphere in GL Off Topic.
But I can't do it alone. I need your help Dragon Phoenix, Courk (you know you've been posting while drunk and putting everyone down, wordcross, you too been hitting the bottle and then being rather snotty).
We all should try harder to think happy thoughts and stop calling each other fuck weasels and cunt schnauzers. Let's build one of those maypoles, they look like fun. We can do this! Together!

Thank you! I have been trying to tell everyone that, many though are loyal to their canoes, esp around here. Kayaks are more comfortable, more stable, faster in the water and a kayak paddle beats a canoe paddle hands down.
I am curious though why you decided to post that revelation in this particular thread? Anyways, it's the best comment this has seen so far, I hate "I'm leaving" threads. |

Others have tried. Casinopete tried, and God chased him out of the country. Extro tried, and who's heard from him lately? Death Mage tried, and God retaliated on my behalf with a flood, chasing him out of his apartment.
I must warn you, I am immune to kindness and understanding. Probably because I've had so much of it showered on me throughout my life.
Your wit is a much more effective weapon. You're definitely killing me with that.

I have to say, I never thought he'd really do it, but damn - it's been about two weeks. This isn't like Travis. Do you think he's ok? Travis...dude, you gotta come back. It's been completely empty here since you left. |
