Another solution is
a) set both 7min and 4min timers running
b) as soon as 4min has run out, flip it
c) as soon as 7min has run out, flip it. This will mean you have exactly 1 min left of the 4min timer.
d) as soon as that 1min has run out, flip it. This will mean you still have 6 mins left of your 7min timer.
e) as soon as your 4min timer has run out, start cooking your egg.
f) as you still have 2mins remaining on your 7 min timer just flip it as soon as it runs out, wait for that to run out and...hey presto! one 9min egg!
