Hey I didn't lose! And I got a fancy "most balanced" award flag. Yay!
Congrats to Amb, well done. Thanks to lexprod for hosting it.
In case anyone cares, my (ahem) "strategy" was to take the centre spot and then starting from the bottom left corner move around in a "knight's tour" pattern, trusting to luck to hopefully put a blocker in all the lines before the opponent had made a complete row of three. I'm not surprised I didn't come close to winning, but I am a bit bemused by getting as many wins as I did - I thought there would be mainly losses (if unlucky) or draws (if the blocking pattern worked). |

My anti-strategy on not-gonna-win-bot was to make my moves so as to block off lines without making a row. I'm not surprised that I placed poorly overall, or that I got most cat's games, but I am surprised that I did well initially.
Also, my last game is credited as +3/+3. |

Well, my "most O" points matches my strategic mindset pretty well. I went into the design with the assumption that it would be much easier to win as X, so the bot that could also win O games would do well. Thus I assumed most players would start with center followed by corners, hoping for a diagonal win, and set out to block that before thinking much about winning myself. Thus my first few placements were set up to block both diagonals in two moves. I also chose 9 for the first of my corners because it seemed the "least random" and therefore unlikely to be an early pick for other players. I expected to win many of many of my games on the bottom or right edge.
My bot did what it was designed to do-- the bots that beat me were typically those designed not to focus on diagonals. |

I thought my BattleBots rip-off name would give me uber-powers, but my order sucked, so, oh well. |

Yes, but I wouldn't expect anybody to get it (because you don't have all the information).
