I don't have unlimited internet at home so my updates are usually only MWF, so I gave Duke Gnome the answer so he could field any generals that I miss and speed the game along. I still handle the stumpers and sporadic update though. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

Undercover Monk (UM) started the thread and gave answers to general questions, but it was really dragging (it still is), and UM said his access was limited. That's when Duke Gnome (DG) sterpped up and said if UM would PM him the person's name he'd answer in UM's absence.
Then DG said he'd have answered a couple differently, specifically "Are you American?" and "Are you in the Entertainment industry?"
Ooh! Ooh! I just noticed that I have a general because ralphmerridew knew who Jack Palance was - he won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Curly in City Slickers.

I make that 20 Questions. I think it's up to UM to wrap things up if he wishes. I would be really surprised if anybody guessed it from here. |

The link to DP's description specifies a 20Q limit, hovever I will continue to answer generals if UM wishes to continue.
As far as I can tell, besides being an author of fiction, nothing makes me stand out.

(just a general comment)
So we need the name of an alive semi-famous Caucasian writer (but not on the wikipedia list) who moved to America from somewhere.
I have no clue-- is there really a hope of us getting this person? |

| Personally I'd call "semi-famous" generous., but otherwise it's pretty accurate. |

Actually, we know something else. Since he's not a native-born American, nor European, nor Asian, nor from a developing country, he must be from one of these countries: Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada.
This brings up my joke from earlier: the character in question *must* be better-known than Botticelli. It's one of the rules. |

| Well, if he's not Asian, he can't be from South Korea or Japan either. He could be from South America? |

| The numbers were distorted when different aswers were given by DG versus UM. How many questions were used to determine nationality when an initial positive response to "Are you American?" would have stopped that line of enquiry? |

Actually the guy has written at least two non-fiction books
He is one of my favorite authors and I am surprised he isn't on that list as he does have a wikipedia page. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

He is Frank E. Peretti
Born in Canada, he is a christian Author.
His most famous books are This Present Darkness, The Oath, and his newest Monster.
He also had a cameo in the film version Hangman's Curse. It was part of a shortlived teen series called Veritas Project.
His non-fiction work No more Victims and No More Bullies dealt with harassment in highschools.
He is also the author of the Cooper Kid Series.
Sorry if this one was too hard, I knew him so I assumed someone here would. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

| For the record I answered the "Are you American" question as though it was a parallel to "Are you European" (i.e "Were you born on the continent of North or South America?") Everybody else seemed to consider it to mean "Are you a US Citizen" which caused some confusion. |
