From the Al Gore wiki page:
Quote:
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

Re: post 120, I'd like to borrow the general as offered by PuzzleScot. I'm happy for him(?) to have my next general if/when I get one and there's a question he'd like to ask.

I have it narrowed down to 2 people, one of whom does not meet all the general conditions as specified, so...

General (via Puzzlescot): Does your device/process have anything to do with food?

Quailman: I don't think I have a general of my own as my latest stumper hasn't been answered as yet...I think it's too clever for it's own good!

I'm thinking 3iff's last stumper hand something to do with an imaginary shark owned by Kim, but I haven't seen the correct episode of South Park/Family Guy/Simpsons/etc. But maybe me mentioning that will spark the memory of someone else?

No one knows any of the Cosby actors outside the ones that Quailman...ahem...failed with?

Ah, South Park, now that does ring a bell... Is that Tony Blair then?
[edit: I've looked it up now - it isn't South Park. It was Team America: World Police, if that helps anyone (doubtful)]

As for Al Gore (sigh)...
He was indeed the first senior US politician to recognise the usefulness of nationally networked computer system, so penned "The Gore Bill" in 1991. This bill authorised funding for a web browser (Mosaic), and enable the "Information Superhighway".

Quite how that authorises him to say "I took the initiative in creating the Internet." is an overstatement of the order normally reserved for overreaching CVs (resumés) !! I'd call it 'jumping on the bandwagon'.

Especially when you consider that I graduated 3 years before that in computational science, that hey guess what, used the internet quite a lot! Before it had been invented by Al Gore!!! I was going to say there were no graphical interfaces or images, but there were of sorts.

That'll be why wiki says: "Gore's reference to his role in "creating the Internet", however, was ridiculed in his presidential election campaign.". Quite right.

Yes! Good job. I realized that my answer on the Wal-Mart question could be misleading since not all stores are supercenters that have a grocery section, so I clarified it.

Everyone who's had a vasectomy has used his product.

Congrats PuzzleScot. It was your general (the one I borrowed!) that gave us the final clue so you deserved it. That was going to be my guess too.

Congrats also to Quailman for a tricky game.

The shark victim was Hans Blix, from Team America...obviously a bit too obscure for the assembled players.

Lepton: Isn't the title October Sky, an anagram of the book's title (Rocket Boys)?

It doesn't matter now, but bash is the "Bourne" again shell.

I wondered if anyone would see my percentage on the Wal-Mart stores and go to the wiki site and back into the numbers to see that the discount centers (not superstores or grocery outlets) might not have this, and make the connection to food.

I don't know how I would have answered "Is this invention used in a medical procedure?", since the flexible nature of a frozen bag of peas makes it a perfect ice pack to use after a vasectomy or in other situations.

The hardest part is coming up with an original person that doesn't use a letter we've seen in the last few -cellis.

Forgive me for not remembering Tempest Bledsoe. I haven't seen that show since it was still being made (about 1992?). I only recalled Lisa Bonet because I saw her in Enemy of the State with Will Smith and Gene Hackman more recently.
