The first Quickfire is a simple, yet very complex quickfire, you will have only two weeks to complete the making of this puzzle. You must make a puzzle using 25 words or less. It may not involve pictures, animations, or other items, just words.
Jot And Tittle
Amongst the mêlée, my fiancée excelled (repeatedly, déjà vu!) vis-à-vis
a naïve éclair vendor and some Québécois ninjitsu masters.
Note: î and ê should have the same symbol above them. dumb formatting issues _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

Re: the note - are you sure? I get something close to a fitting answer if the first e in mêlée has a circumflex (caret-mark-looking thing) and the i in naïve has the diaresis (two dots):
Take this as Morse code. Any word that has at least one dotted or accented letter represents a single character. Dots are dots, accents are dashes.
mêlée - two dashes - M
fiancée - dot and dash - A
déjà - dash dot dash - K
vis-à-vis - dot dash dot - R
naïve - either two dots or one dash, depending on what needs to be here - either I or T
éclair - dash and dot - N
Québécois - dash dash dot - G
ninjitsu - three dots - S
That nearly spells MARKINGS, which works thematically, but only if you ignore the note and switch the R and K. _________________ "I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do with a lifetime supply of chocolate..." |

| Or if you treat the circumflex as 2 dashes you get OAK RINGS (although I can't see why that's more appropriate than MARKINGS) |

| The note was a formatting issue in the font I used to send the email. It references î (not in the puzzle), not ï(which is) (increase font size to see the difference). No excuse for the KR transposition though. |

Elimination Challenge 1: What's on TV?
During this challenge players were asked to create a puzzle inspired by a favorite television program. The genre of the program was not important, but contestants were instructed to demonstrate through their puzzles why the program was worth watching.

It is indeed. I notice also there's another bit in there about titular puns. _________________ jbv |

I completely see where that answer comes from, but surely that can't be it...
It must be referring to the actual Spike TV show "1000 Ways to Die"...probably the episode titles.
Edit: The fact that the show actually does have numbered ways to die seems promising, but the house numbers we have don't fall within the range 0-1000, and only one of the number's we're given has actually been used as a Death Number on the show. |

Quickfire #2: Hang by a Thread
Quickfire for the next round is another classic from the last round
You must pick a Topic in the Grey Labyrinth to base a puzzle off of. VSP is banned from being picked, as are the GL's front page puzzles. Additionally, a topic can not be picked that has been made after the start of this quickfire.
You may not use visual aides for your puzzle. it must be in all text, and the words may not be used to create a visual puzzle.
You have one week to complete this puzzle
Oh and one last thing. If you win this challenge, you can not be eliminated in the next elimination challenge.

I think I have the solution:
Every question has an 'n' missing from some word. The questions should look like this (with answers):
What was the primary anesthetic for the Civil War? = CHLOROFORM
What's like a tony, but for smaller crowds? = OBIE
What holiday causes people to refuse to leaven their bread? = PASSOVER
What color is the product of the renal system? = YELLOW
What force does a photon carry? = ENERGY
What show features a banker who haggles? = DEAL OR NO DEAL
What sort of demon easily seduces females? = INCUBUS
What do some cooks prefer to brine for large feasts? = TURKEY
The first letters spell, appropriately, COPY EDIT. |

ha ha lets all make fun of Undercover Monk cause he misspelled question. The real "questio" you should be asking is it a good idea to mock a judge. _________________ The Classic Blunders:
