The town come together. Amongst them is some players of evil alignment. It turns out that the evil alignment players were meeting secretly in the town hall at night to discuss deaths. You wouldnt have known, but one evil player was supposed to put the chairs away after the meeting. There were 3 chairs in the main hall, and one still folded up in the corner. (Hint: This implies either 3 or 4 mafia. There arent less than 3, there arent more than 4)
On the floor were plans for how best to kill people, but there were no names of killers or intended victims. You will have to find the killers the old fashioned way. Lynching!
Good luck all

Seriously, I'm like Chaz more and more as a scum choice. In my limited experience, when people are already getting serious with their accusations and interpretations on the first page, it's because they are guilty.
On the other hand, it IS Chaz. I'm leaving it as an FOS, I guess. |

I'm still unconvinced that band-wagoning is always a scummy sign.
When we get to latter days, it's very beneficial to look back and see who joined what band-wagons, and we usually end up finding scum using deductive reasoning... however... on the first day, a band wagon may or may not mean anything. Certainly it would be in scum's best interest to have a quick lynch, but I don't think there's anything scummy about putting pressure on people... that's the only way we get any info at all on the first day.
Now if somebody pulls the trigger too quickly... well that's nearly always scummy--I can think of one situation where it wouldn't be scummy, but a trigger pulled on an innocent is certainly always a scummy sign.
Now on to why we should be putting pressure on Zag.
I now know that sAb is at least claiming that his post was "just a joke," but there was still an intention behind the post.
I see the following as possible intentions behind sAb's post.
1. He has inside information. (we should vote Zag.)
2. He's "in" with Zag (either pro-mafia or pro-town) and wants to either see how people react (if he's pro-town) or distance himself from Zag (if he's mafia.). (we could vote either, but should probably start with Zag--though this could bite us in the butt if Zag is innocent and doesn't have a chance to redeem sAb's name before he's lynched.)
3. He's trying to get the game moving. (we should probably vote sAb in this case, since it shows an interest in getting a lynch under his belt, and putting some pressure on sAb would reveal some information (true or not.) )
4. He's just being random. (might as well join with him and vote Zag, since it's already in motion to put pressure on Zag... no sense in picking a different random target.)
So, 2/4 we should vote Zag, 1/4 we should vote sAb, and 1/4 we should vote either sAb or Zag. (note: I'm not saying that Zag or sAb are definitely mafia, just that we should definitely be voting for one of them right now.) When I said "it's either/or" I meant that our vote should be either or, and not that either/or is scum. It's just in our best interest to put pressure on each of them in turn, and probably better to start with Zag.
Any other reasons sAb could possibly have chosen Zag? _________________ The enemy's base is down. |

Oh fer Gawd's sake, Chaz. Maybe sAb picked me because I'm about to beat him at the competitive Bingo game. (Ooops. Did I say that out loud? I'm not sure he knows it, yet.) Or maybe because there was such a big todo about me in the other game. Or, as everyone else knew, it was just a joke and I was picked at random.
This has, however, prompted me to go look at your early game behavior in other mafia games. In the 10-year reunion game, you were in joking with everyone else, and didn't seem that interested in doing analysis until the voting really got underway; and you were innocent in that game. On the basis of your complete turnaround, I will

| Chaz's analysis seems off-puttingly serious for day one, but on the other hand I think that mafia, not townies, would be more likely to try to start serious analysis. But that's no huge clue, of course. Ah, day one--essentially nothing to go on. No vote for now. |

All of your reasons for him voting you are covered in my fourth reason. If it was random (or inspired by something unrelated to the game) then it still makes sense to put pressure on you to invoke some information. Again, no sense in taking another random path.
As for "other games" I've played in... I've only played in one mafia game recently, and before that--in the games I played in long ago--I was a different person, I assure you. I was willing to join in the the joking around in that particular case, because it was a very old and long standing tradition, and I was planning that particular vote as soon as I saw that he was going to play.
I find your OMGYS vote to be scummy, by the way. You seem flustered. Are you flustered? _________________ The enemy's base is down. |

Well, just after my initial post I had a thought that the misspelling may have been intentional as part of their "role", but I decided to let the post stand. It's my first mafia game, so I'm not even sure if post edits are allowed. As for my own mistake, I'm human. A misspelling is a rarity for me, but they occur. _________________ Sentran

The finger of suspicion was owed to the fact that she literally said that my actions are off-putting, but on the other hand she would only expect scum to do it.
I think it's probable that it was a Freudian slip. Am I just misunderstanding her? _________________ The enemy's base is down. |

That's 5/8 for Zag, and 3/8 for you (out of the choice between yourself and Zag, based solely on your single post saying that you were positive that Zag was scum.)
As I've stated, I'm not saying we should lynch Zag... I'm saying we should put some pressure on Zag.

Actually I will do the vote count now, as I will be busy later:
3. Zag (sAbLLimINal, MNOWAX, Chaz)
2. Chaz (Dragon Phoenix, Zag)
2. Kraddrol (Quailman, Undercover Monk)
1. sAbLLimINal (ralphmerridew)
Not voting: IO_SAMBO_OI, Kraddrol, Sentran, Silverfire, Sniklac16
7 to lynch.
IO_SAMBO_OI hasn't read his PM, so he may be replaced or modkilled.
Sniklac16 bolded a name, which I presume is a vote. All votes should be preceeded by the word Vote please, as it may be a FOS, or nothing at all. |

Wow! There was a lot to catch up on since I last checked in. Chaz is way too gun ho for day 1. His extensive analysis of why we should either vote Zag or Sab is enough for me to...
unvote: Kraddrol; vote: Chaz
...in spite of the possibility that some wacky role feature might force him to make an argument to lynch the first poster or voter each day. |
