This thread is for gushing about your pets, because I want to talk to Pablo about his ridiculously cute dog.

Pablo, do you have one of those special bike attachments where you attach the leash and can ride with your dog without having to worry about the leash getting tangled up? Because I think that thing looks like an awesome idea, plus that mental image is adorable.

Then again, with his big poodlebrain your dog is probably smart enough to be able to run off-leash without being all "OOH OOH CAT/DOG/BIRD/KID/BUG! PLAY WITH MEEEE" *zoom*, unlike our dumbass.

Also, here is Lily being cute:

and not so much:

Quality is not great and you have to tilt your head sideways to see it, but...
Here's one of my dogs, Trixie, saying "Mama".

Please forgive the hoover in the background, hoovers and German Shepherds go hand in hand. They shed enough hair to knit a sweater.

Mck, no - Spencer has no off leash discipline. He chases birds and squirrels. We can only let him run in dog parks and fenced in schoolyards.

Yeah, she's a charmer, and she knows exactly how to work it to maximise her attention quota. She's also a huge tart who crawls up into the lap of any guest who dares to take a seat in our house, and mouths the hands of anyone who she deems to not be petting her enough (she's starting to grow out of this now, but she still does it to me, because she knows I let her chew on me.

Jack_Ian: your dog is awesome, and I giggled like an absolute fool at the video. My family had a GSD when I was a kid (she died young, unfortunately Melancholy ) and she was the funniest animal I've ever met. She'd develop quirky habits based on our behaviour, one of the ones I remember clearly was that whenever the phone rang, she'd bolt out into the backyard and frantically start sprinting around the perimeter of the yard in excitement. My folks eventually figured out that it was because when the phone rang my two sisters and I would all race to get to the phone first, which was by the back door, and she'd get super-excited and think we were running out to play with her - a feeling which she linked with the ringing phone.
Snik: is Tucker a German Shepherd too? He is so, so, so SO CUTE. 2ply is an especially pretty cat, too. =) My family's cat is a wizened old grimalkin now, I'll have to try to dig up some pictures of her (she doesn't have nearly the patience for getting her photo taken as Lily. Nor is she nearly as much of a tart).

DP: how old is Jazz now? He must be at least 5 or 6! How the time flies. He's just as handsome as when you first got him and were showing off pictures of this adorable floppy puppy Felicitous His eyes are beautiful, I love your second picture where there's not much colour until you get to that gorgeous rich brown in his eyes. So, gorgeous photo too - I guess I shouldn't give Jazz all the credit!

Pablo and Chaz, I keep laughing at both of your pictures. Chaz' because of Balley (how long did it take him to start talking to you again after that haircut?) and Pablo's because Spencer looks like such a little gentleman. He has such a serious looking face in those pictures, and he's got his stately little beard, and it's all making me laugh because he looks like an adorable little old man but I've already convinced myself he's a big bucket-o'-wiggles (I can't imagine something that originates from Labs and Poodles being anything but). Also: wanna kiss that nose.

Actually, funny you should say that. I was against getting hair cut this way, but he really liked it. He was a "pet me" whore after the haircut (whereas he was only mildly interested in being pet before the cut.)

Though, Balley has always liked me the most. When we first got him, there was some confusion about his gender, and he was named "Ballie" (pronounced as in "ballerina" which it was short for.) I took one look at him and pronounced him as a male cat (which I was right about.) I maintain that he understood the egregious error, and fell in love with me when I renamed him Balley (as in Baileys liquor).

Sam just slammed me almost as hard as I slam his mom.

Somebody (probably a GLer, on the GL) once wrote:
How To Give A Cat A Pill

1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw

9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door on to neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Tie the little $%@^&*s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

Great thread idea for sure. Hello Chaz! I will try to get some pics posted of my hellion "Hanna" (no I did not beat her to death with a beer bottle, I don't know how that rumor got started) and post them here.
She will be 5 yrs old the end of March, the German Shepherd who thinks she's a Labrador Retriever.

Will need to get a photo bucket account so I won't have to bother Courk or Chuck anymore, will try to get them posted soon.

Once again, great thread! Hope to see more pics of everyone's Alpacas.

Our dog Spencer doesn't shed. That's the good news. The bad news is that his fur is a nightmare to maintain. It gets matted and he's constantly in need of grooming. About once a year it gets so bad that we have to have him shaved down to not much.

It's time. I think he has an appointment within a few days to get this done, so might see new pictures in this thread of a dog that looks.......well........different!

Here is one of the funniest shots I took of him. My brother returned him yesterday (he had picked Jazz up when I was kept in the hospital), and having him around helps, especially with my wife in Shanghai.

Her name is Brittany, we got her about 2 years ago as a rescue dog from a shelter. About 100 pounds of tripping hazard.

On top of the chair is one of our cats, Scratch (he has a sister, Sniff). Obviously the dog is a little bigger than she believes she is Revenge most foul!

Good question! We really would have preferred not to get it done until spring, but his fur gets so matted (knotted up) that the only practical and non-cruel remedy when it gets that bad is to shear him. It would take several hours to brush him out and it's really uncomfortable for him to get that done.
