So Mackay, Zag, and rm, are you seriously claiming that you don't think even one of the three or four mafia could have deciphered Zag's role? Mackay did, and I did. It wasn't even hard to do. How could open revelation possibly be harmful to town, when mafia probably already knew his role anyway?

Actually, Mackay only said that deciphered that you thought I was cop, because of your constant yammering. And, as I've said a dozen times, now, the only reason I put out any hints that I was cop was because of your cop-sniffing and role-sniffing, and mostly all I ever said was, "stop cop-sniffing and role-sniffing." Unfortunately, I knew that I had possibly tipped off the mafia and I wouldn't survive night 2, so I had to make sure that I told the town I had found Mackay innocent. Then, of course, you blabbed it all over, like a scum or a moron, I still haven't figured out which, PLUS you kept at your role-sniffing.

Just so you don't feel like I'm ignoring what are, now doubt, the many questions you've directed at me, I have to say that your note at the top of this page is the only one of the past bunch of yours that I read. And that was only because it was at the top of the page and I read it before I realized what a mistake I was making. If you're wondering why I'm not responding to any of the other drivel you've posted, it's because I'm not reading it. Oh, wait. I guess that means that I AM ignoring your questions, or maybe just you.

------------------

I've been working out possible scenarios in which I'm still alive tomorrow morning. If the scum have a role-blocker, then they might decide to let me live another day. They also would if they knew I were really an insane cop of some sort, but they could only know that if Mackay is really guilty, and I seriously doubt that. With our doc gone, I don't see that they have any reason to target someone else, and they'd be crazy to leave both Mackay and me alive to act as a voting block.

I'm so frustrated that we can't lynch Chaz today. If he had actually been the first person to work out the theme, it wouldn't be so annoying, but I doubt he was any better than fourth. By the time he actually said it, I doubt there was anyone at all left who didn't know it. I know that the innocent among us were reluctant to say it only on the off chance that the scum had a different theme.

Is that an original idea with Amb -- that the theme is secret and the first one to say it gets immunity or some other benefit?

Seriously Zag? You're already coming up with excuses for living through the night, when we haven't even gone to night yet?

I feel pretty confident about Zag and Silverfire actually being mafia.

Quail seems attached to DP, but DP doesn't seem to be returning the sentiment. He also seems connected to Mackay, but only because of the meta-gaming introduced by Sentran.

rm seems scummy, but he's not really linked to anyone.

Zag has linked himself tightly to Mackay, but she doesn't seem to reciprocative.

Silver is linked up to Quail a bit, and he's returned the sentiment in an obscure (her name is actually) kind of way.

MNO, Snik, and rae (formerly Krad) are connected, but that could be unrelated to this game.

If forced to guess, right now, I'd say Zag, Quail, rm, and Silverfire are the scum team.

If rae is scum...

then Silverfire is, for sure, scum. She revealed herself when she tried to link me to Sentran.

Either Quail, or rm are also scum. For sure.

This is because they're the ones not voting for rae.

If there's a fourth mafia, then the fourth would be one of the following (and I think it would become evident quickly)
The other of rm/quail. MNO. And possibly Zag or Mackay.

It occurred to me, during the night phase, that all of my logic is dependent upon my innocence. I was seriously worried that Snik was going to be killed, and then we'd lose for sure, but, now that we have an extra townie, I will sacrifice myself to see town win.

Vote: Chaz

Remember... Kill Silverfire first. She is scum, and she made this evident when she subtly hinted in this post:
Sivlerfire wrote:
Also, sorry for being an idiot, but how was it at all "obvious" that Zag was a cop? More and more I'm beginning to believe that all the activity I saw as townieish near the start of the game was a big distraction so Chaz could out the power roles, something he seems to be good at. Is it possible that he was able to pick out the doc after the first day?

I noticed, when I was recapping, that Sentran's death cast a ton of suspicion on me. At that point, I started suspecting Quail as mafia (since it was rather subtle suspicion at best. I've been waiting for one of the mafia to make this hint, and I'm glad Silver volunteered for it. This tied with her vote not being on rae yesterday clinches it for me. If there are four mafia, then we rae was lynched by only townies (which isn't impossible, of course), but I doubt all three other mafia were voting for rae. This means that it's highly likely that at least one (and probably two or all three) mafia were voting for Snik.

That leaves us with Silverfire, Quailman, and ralphmerridew.

At least one of these players (and probably two of them, with a possibility of all three of theme) is mafia.

Alone, I could handle Silver's Freudian slip at the start of the game, and her subtle (was Chaz clever enough to spot the doc) comment, but, when combined with her voting for Snik, she becomes obviously scum--assuming my innocence, which will be proven shortly.

Next to decide would be between Quail and rm. Both have been awfully quiet (rm more so than Quail) and both have kind of alluded to having cop roles (rm more so than Quail, and I don't even remember what Quail said to make me think he was a cop.) The thing that puts rm over the top was that he was the first to figure out the Johnny Depp link, and I honestly think Mafia had the best chance of doing this. His post:
rm wrote:
Mackay: Are you sure? I found that Gilbert Grape and Jack Kerouac (as well as my role) have something distinctive in common. The odd thing is that if you start with the common thread at the logical place, you won't find Kerouac. If you start with Kerouac at the logical place, and you're aware of the common thread, you'll find out that he matches it as well.
seemed strange to me, but I can't put my finger on why.
Based on strictly evidence, I think rm is the best target, but based on my gut instinct, I lean towards Quail. I'm not sure how brilliant rm, Silverfire, and KradDrol are, but whoever suggested the Sentran kill was being pretty insightful about their choice--I'm still a little surprised Mackay and Zag didn't catch this... which still makes me quite suspicious of Mackay… if she hadn’t been the one who lead to Krad’s death, I would have assumed it was her.

I guess I over-estimated Zag, and I've either under-estimated Mackay (if she's mafia) or I've over-estimated her as well (if she's townie.) Guess I'll see.
Anyway... Kill me now, then see who mafia selects for a night kill, kill Silverfire (because she is scum, or I will, literally, eat my hat.)

Then (based on night kills) decide who of Quail and rm should be lynched.

If there are four mafia, then God speed your journey. I'd put my money on the other of Quail/rm, but MNO is a good candidate. Mackay is possible, but I would have to have seriously underestimated that girl if she is the fourth mafia.

Trying to figure out what about rm figuring out the theme first, I ran into this little nugget.

ralphmerridew wrote:
Sorry for abruptly dropping off the internet. My computer died abruptly a few nights ago; I'm posting from the library right now. I'll probably be limited in my ability to read and post for a few days until the replacement arrives. (If I get replaced, I understand.)

Right now my main suspects are Chaz, KradDrol, and Sab. Chaz is setting off my scum-o-meter with his push for a mass role claim, and I've explained why I think that's a bad idea. (For those who've figured out the theme, are there any thematic roles that would fit with the doc ability? There are certainly thematic roles that fit with cop ability.) I think he's been trying to derail the KradDrol bandwagon.

How experienced are sab, KradDrol, Chaz, and Silverfire?

This was right after we came back from night-fall. Notice how he distances himself from Krad and Silver, whilst innocently asking if any thematic roles fit the "Doctor" (almost as if he didn't notice in bold that we lost a doctor about four posts before his. I think he was trying to get the "could chaz have figured out that Sentran was a doctor" idea rolling at this point.

Sorry rm, I don't buy it. I'm now convinced that Silverfire and rm are mafia, with the fourth being Quail, or MNO (and an outside chance of Mackay, if I have seriously underestimated her.) Ecstatic Happiness

Or, as Zag has pointed out several times, I'm batshit crazy, which is certainly possible. =D

Now I am curious though... could we have deduced Sentran's role from his posts? If we can, then my entire line of reasoning on who is mafia is flawed... so be aware of this before you blindly follow me.

I went back to see if there is any way someone could have deduced Sentran's role, and I couldn't find a way. I concluded that mafia was trying to frame me. If there is a way to deduce Sentran's role, then all of my conclusions are probably wrong. Melancholy

That's all I can find that seems like a hint from Sentran, and I can not link it to Gilbert Grape. I stick by my reasoning and conclusions.

Silverfire, then rm, then Quail (or, possibly MNO or Mackay, depending on night kills.)

No ploy Quail. Kill me, and you'll see the light. I will admit that I really want it to be rm (since it was clear that he'd already deduced that Zag was a cop before I made the observation that I thought I'd figured out a new cop (and, his post was some of the influence for my theory.) thus absolving me of responsibility for Zag's death.)

I think Zag killed himself by supporting my idea that all power roles are not author based. Most players who have roles (which may well still be authors, and I guess we'll see when more townies die) would have just laughed at my theory, but Zag freaked out that it might be true. This caused his night kill, and not my post. Razz

What's really bizarre is that my theory will still stand until another townie (who's role isn't based on an Author) is killed. For the record, I no longer support my theory at all, since I believe that Snik is a townie, and I watched the movie to make sure his character wasn't based on an author/writer.

While we were in night, I wrote myself a list ordering everyone from scummiest to least scummy:
  • Sniklac16: The most damning evidence against Snik, in my mind, is that when he and raekuul were the leading bandwagons, he took his vote off raekuul and moved it elsewhere, making them tied in votes. I guess it *could* just be that he didn't realise how much danger he was in, but to me it just looks like he didn't want to be voting raekuul.
  • MNOWAX: Did not want to be voting for raekuul, but tried to look as though he wanted to be voting for raekuul. The actions are of a person who knew raek was guilty but didn't want to lynch him. Made posts that were inconsistent and wildly contradictory.
  • Silverfire: Has lurked all game, to promptly reappear when her lurking was mentioned. This is textbook lurkerscum behaviour.
  • Chaz: There are really strong arguments both for and against Chaz. "For" includes pretty much everything he's done in game-yesterday. Sniffing around for information, revealing two roles that hadn't been disclosed, becoming increasingly hostile and self-contradictory. Snik, a person who is heavily under suspicion, suddenly changed his tune about him then tried to soften it when it called suspicion on the both of them. Actually threatened the town when they went to lynch raekuul.
"Against": he claimed early and accurately (the mafia could have safe claims, but still). Most of the rest is pretty much stuff from day 1. At first I thought KradDrol's FOS on him could be a distancing tactic, but Krad continually pushed the idea that Chaz was "following [me] around like a lost puppy" or something to that effect, trying to tie us together. Given the rest of his play, I don't credit Krad with the skill to pull something like that on a scumbuddy without giving himself away - it looked as though he was floundering and trying to cast suspicion on both of us, not brilliantly trying to link his buddy to an innocent.
  • Quailman: Every single action he has taken this game - every post, every vote, every expression of suspicion - has been 100% safe. That makes me very, very, very uncomfortable with him, but I don't think there's much actual evidence of any linking or anything "scummy" that has been said.
  • Undercover Monk: came out of the woodwork to attempt to form a bandwagon on MNOWAX. Not horribly bad, as MNO was being super-evil, but he appeared *just* as a wagon was starting to form on confirmed scum raekuul, so something to keep in mind. I'm willing to look pretty generously on this as I think MNOWAX is probably a scummy scum scum.
  • ralphmerridew: Not on my radar at all. Um, he helped me figure out the Depp theme when I had no idea how to link Scissorhands to Kerouac.
  • Dragon Phoenix: I haven't been particularly suspicious of DP. He and I have agreed on a large amount - if he is scum, he's playing the "follow-a-probable-townie" game, and he is doing it with a great deal of skill and subtlety, as I haven't felt as though he was following me, and he has offered some strong insights that I would never have noticed. I think it is more likely that we are just having similar suspicions.
  • Zag: has claimed cop, and for now I believe him.
  • Mackay: cleared by claimed cop. Also, me. Felicitous

This was NOT based on a re-read of the thread, so there might be errors in my memory. I'm going to do one after I finish this post, though I hope y'all forgive me if I don't give a tedious post-by-post breakdown of the entire thread shaded with my own running commentary. Felicitous

Things from today so far:
I don't understand Chaz' self-vote at all. It seems like a completely ridiculous thing to do as town or mafia, because you HAVE to know that everyone's going to pile on. Chaz, in what way do you feel your death will help the town that your being alive doesn't?
Snik's being all "let's get 'im, guys!" toward Chaz makes me more okay with him being at the top of my list.
Quail, you have said "nice ploy" to Chaz, but I don't get it. What is the ploy? Is it "look innocent by voting myself"? Because I'm pretty sure that one never works. Confused (That doesn't mean he isn't trying it, I'm just wondering if there's an explanation that makes Chaz look less stupid.)

vote: Sniklac16 for now.
