Currently, if you search a thread for a single person's posts, you can't read past the first page. I'm going to change this behavior so that each page can be clicked (if possible). If that's not possible, then I'll change the behavior to show all posts regardless of how many posts that puts on one page.

The second part (which is first in the title) will be to make image scaling easier. I purpose a new tag. [imgresize] that will auto resize the image to the width of the user's screen (minus any space needed for columns and display purposes) and automatically make the image click-able to see full size. I think we had something like this originally on the old ubb forums, but it must have been lost in the shuffle. I also might (if time permits) allow either height or width only in the img tag. For example: [img width=800] would be an allowed tag, and the height portion of the tag could be either auto-calculated, or left out completely. All of these features are (of course) time and possibility permitting.

One final idea that I've been toying with is a YouTube tag which would allow us to embed youtube videos in the thread. Any of the following would work (and amount to the same thing.)

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1XxILVnt1w&feature=rec-LGOUT-farside_rn-3r-8-HM[/youtube]
[youtube]I1XxILVnt1w[/youtube]
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1XxILVnt1w[/youtube]
[youtube]http://youtu.be/I1XxILVnt1w[/youtube]
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1XxILVnt1w&autoplay=1[/youtube]

Pretty much any other combinations should work as well... basically the tag will find and strip out the id code, and lose any other tags that might crop up (like autoplay in particular.) I think this could be useful for the youtube classics thread in particular, but even mafia mods might enjoy the ability to embed a video for death scenes.

Any objections?

Sounds good. I would only object to videos being allowed to autoplay. I would rather they can only be entered such that the user needs to click on them to play them. But I don't feel that strongly about it.

I'm not crazy about the ability to embed video, everything else sounds great and way overdue.

I agree 100%. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear, but that's exactly what I was trying to say. It will find the video ID, and lose any other tags the user may have used (whether intentional or not.) All we really need is the [youtube]I1XxILVnt1w[/youtube] part, but I want people to be able to copy paste the native embed URLs (for ease of use) ie [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1XxILVnt1w[/youtube].

For all intents and purposes, the embedded videos will just be a thumbnail of the video (I think.) I've even toyed with the idea of linking to the thumbnail directly (thus cutting out the embedded object), but that seems to be more of a hindrance when you just want to view the video...

Well, I woke up early today (not by choice) and spent a half hour on the "preserve selected user when page changes" problem, so that seems to be working now; let me know if anyone sees a problem.

There is one small hiccup. When the results are limited (and not just by the selected user, any limit), the last page will always show page numbers for every page. I'll probably fix it some other day when I wake up a bit early.

Next stop: Image tags.
