So.. if we changed the URL tag to be "web" tags, would that wreck havoc on existing posts? It would be amusing if [url=http://www.greylabyplace.com]here![/url] didn't do anything. Instead our members would type [web=http://www.rickrolled.com]here![/web]
It would also be neat if the tags automatically forced an underlining. |

Yes, it would ruin all our existing URL's. I suppose that we could support url tag for any posts before a certain date, if we really wanted to, but it would mean a date test for every url tag. If the linking spam bots get out of hand, I'd consider it.
I'm sure whoever wrote this originally intentionally turned off the underline, since the default is to have it. I have to agree, though, that I have missed, on occasion, the fact that there is a link in a post. |
