Congratulations Aidap on your 1st immunity win. As a reward you will recieve the first clue to a hidden immunity idol. You can work as a group to solve the clue but there is only 1 idol so the first person to send me the correct answer gets the idol. You will be searching wikipedia for a person, place, or event. You must pm the name as well as a link to the wikepedia page it can be found. You may guess as many times as you like but only one name per guess. so if you want to guess wolverine and cyclops you would have to send me 2 pms.

Rules concerning the idol:
1. An idol can not be shared or stolen.
2. You may give the idol away but I must recieve a pm from both parties for the idol to switch hands
3. You can play the idol before I read the votes and then all votes cast against you will not count and the person with the second highest number of votes will be eliminated from the game.
4. The idol can only be used through the final 4

1st hint:

I was selected to be a contestant on a CBS reality TV show.

Good Luck and enjoy your immunity.

Of course not. However when/if you see new clues you will know that you are searching for a new idol and that means someone else has found it.

Do you know some things
that others do not know about?

Its team against team again
but also one on one
and if you cant win this one

Looks good! Somehow I think that having what is usually referred to as a dirty mind is not really going to be a benefit (which is a crying shame).

About the search for the idol, you said we could guess as many times as we like. Should I be flooding your mailbox with all the names of every person who's ever been on a CBS reality TV show? It seems like too much work.

The "sort it out" bit sounds like it might have something to do with a word-scramble type puzzle.

you could but the first clue is supposed to be vague. Though it is possible to guess the right person based only on that clue.

My preference would be for dirty minds (wordplay is kinda my thing).

As for who sits out, Chaz has his hands full with irl stuff, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind. I can find out from him if he's okay with that.

so, bgg and jbv, either of you have a preference for pop culture or sports? I might get lucky with pop culture, but I know next to nothing about sports.

wordy, you have me totally confused. There's no sports category!

I'd suggest this arrangement:

dirty minds: wordy
Fact or crap: Zag
Sort it out: jbv
Pop culture: bgg

bgg, if you're not comfortable with pop culture, then wordy has to take it, since he's the only one who has even suggested he would have a prayer. Then I would go with me taking dirty minds and bgg on fact or crap.

How's that sound?

(Boldings mine)

So sports are included in the Trivial Pursuit category, and jbv indicated he would be alright with the trivial pursuit.

I like zag's arrangement. I'd rather do "sort it out." I hadn't noticed that it wasn't the normal trivial pursuit, but a special edition. I was thinking that 1/6 of the trivial pursuit questions would be pop culture, not all of them. I'd get hammered (not that I know who Hammer is).

I'd be happy to do dirty minds or sort it out. If no one on our team likes trivial pursuit, I'll do trivial pursuit, but I'll surely lose the music and fads and questions. I'd probably do okay on TV and movies. buzz and sports would just depend.

How about let's do this:

Rank the categories in order of preference. For example, mine are:

dirty minds
Fact or crap
Trivial Pursuit
Sort it out

if no one else picks your number 1, you get it. then we can flip a coin or whatever for what's left

OK. The Trivial Pursuit: Pop Culture does say "Movies, TV, Music, Sports and Games, Buzz(tabloids and press), and Fads." If you feel you can cover 5/6 of those, you're a big winner! I would probably fail at everything except TV and Sports and Games.

My ranking would be

Dirty Minds, Sort it out, Fact or Crap, in that order, but very close

Trivial Pursuit: Pop Culture, a deeply distant fourth.

Well, rats. A good try, though.

What do you think on this one? 2 clues? I know that this is a published game -- has anyone played it? Do you know if they usually try to do it so that it's nearly impossible with 2?

I'd say 2 clues would be the absolute minimum to have any real informed guess. His example had these 3:
-a four letter word
-a word for a woman
-ends in U-N-T

so if you picked 2 clues, you'd get:
-a four letter word
-a word for a woman

Which is doable, if still slightly vague. if all you knew was that it was a 4 letter word, then you'd have a *lot* more trouble coming up with the correct guess.

of course going with 3 clues make it easier to guess, but it scores less and might give them the win. But I'm sure you already know that Revenge most foul!

I googled some sample questions, for practice. (I assume that Google is legal before we get our questions. If not, I'll disqualify myself.) Of the 10 or so I found that were in three part clues, I got only one of them in two clues, but 6 or 7 with the third clue. I think three is the way to go.

--

In your example, for instance, I don't really think that is doable with only 2 clues. You would basically have to figure out what the third clue was going to be by looking at the hundred or so four-letter words for woman and notice the similarity. Not completely hopeless -- even possible with computer assistance, but without it it is pretty darn unlikely. On the other hand, with three clues I got that one in seconds.

Also, UM, would you go to the Diplomacy game and press cancel? Thanks.

Well, I got it. It would have been challenging to get it in two, and I don't know if I would have. I don't think so.

I actually saw the first clue, and couldn't get it just from that. but then got pulled away by work. When I had a chance to come back, I accidentally saw the third clue next, and I got it with just the first and third. I don't know if I would have gotten it with just the first and second.

Edit: Oh! Amb took only 1 clue. Now I'm glad I didn't take two, because there would have been no benefit. I'll be amazed and impressed if he gets it in one.
