Two epic songs complete with acepella vocals that completely dominate the movies both were featured in. Which will advance? The song about oneness and nature or the song about strength and discipline.
Circle Of Life (The Lion King)
I'll Make A Man Out Of You (Mulan) _________________ The Classic Blunders:

I love Mulan, but Circle of Life is epic. It may win this whole thing. _________________ "Love is the absolute expression of the human perfection" -Me!

| I've mostly been voting against Lion King songs, but I agree with Ctorj on this one. Not only is the song great, but they correctly captured the feel of the music from that area, and the video is terrific. I took a photographic safari in Botswana some years back, and I recognize so many things in the video, including the birds that were underfoot of the elephants. Ignoring the unreality of what they were trying to accomplish, it was all extremely accurate, including the Chobe River delta, the elephants, giraffes, everything. |

Circle of Life is, to my mind, the single best sequence Disney have ever done. I don't think the rest of the film lives up to it. The lyrics may be trite and the message not to my political taste, but holy cow the whole experience is something else.
I can still recall going to the cinema to see something (The Three Musketeers I think) and they ran Circle of Life as basically the trailer for the movie. And I remember thinking after it was over that I could leave then and there (without waiting for the "main" feature) because I;'d already got my money's worth. On a big screen, with a proper sound system, it is utterly mindblowing.
(I think Mulan is probably my favourite "modern" era Disney as an overall package, but in this showdown, it loses.) _________________
