I spent nearly a week without it just a couple of years ago when the ice storm took out power through most of New Hampshire.

In any case, you can't call "electricity" a technological innovation, you'd have to pick one of the many innovations that use electricity.

Agriculture allowed people to stay in one place for long periods of time.
